Hard to say really. I guess you might struggle if you can’t manage the stairs - that is something to consider if you’re less mobile and this is mentioned in the hotel description. Otherwise I really struggle to find down sides.

Located at the heart of Oxford Street which is great for food and drink and nightlife. The hotel is cosy with a lively pub on the ground floor. Really good breakfast. Excellent teas and coffees in the room. Room was really well equipped with safe, little fridge, nice surprises and a huge great shower. Very comfy bed. Clean rooms in good order. The staff were lovely and friendly. I would not hesitate to stay again this was a really pleasant hotel stay.

Location for eating, drinking and our cruise the cruise the next day. Clean spacious room and found parking easier than we thought we might. Highly recommend and will stay again. Breakfast in the morning was lovely and had a great choice. Staff welcoming and friendly throughout.

Stay would have been even better with an elevator or not so narrow stairs

We asked to change rooms because the room we has booked had a standard double bed which was too small for us but they kindly changed our room. Breakfast is great and has a variety of typical English breakfast which is great for foreigners who want to try new things. Location is just perfect. Next to the old city and port to go on a walking sightseeing and just closed to bus stops to visit any other place or to go to the main train station.

Finding parking for the whole stay was a bit of a challenge.

The room was lovely and the food in the restaurant was fantastic however the most noticeable thing was just how friendly the staff were. Everyone we spoke to during our stay were polite and helpful.

This is a to be recommended place BUT in my opinion is too highly priced for what and where it is, car parking is on the road and payable until 20.00 hr, the bathroom is poorly designed regarding the shower entrance, mould on the walls in the bathroom needs cleaning of with bleach, the desk needs to be deeper so one can work on it with a laptop, the kitchen extractors need acoustic insulation and the pub needs more than one Fullers beer.

This is a to be recommended place as the staff were professional and courteous.

One of the room where my daughter and her fiancée was given their toilet smelt of drainage which was quickly actioned and they were moved to another room

We live in Southampton, so we know Oxford Street. The White Star has had a lovely refurbished since I'd last been. It has a great contemporary vibe but also keeps true to the comfort and style of the nautical theme. The breakfast was fantastic. Great selection.
