The steps were a bit dicey. I am not sure we would’ve booked a stay here if we had known in advance what the situation was all about. But, it ended up being a memorable experience.

Justin welcomed us warmly. Apologized for the stairs and helped get our luggage up to our room. This was our first experience staying in a room over a pub. We were entertained by the patrons and warmly welcomed.

Sometimes, the bathroom smelt like someone had been smoking in there. I don't smoke. That was annoying it didn't happen often, but enough that i noticed. They provided you with tea bags at the property, but I didn't like them, so I brought my own. The only other downside and this is nothing to do with the pub, but on my last night there the other guests in a different room were loud and kept banging the kitchen door.

I stayed in room 3 for 4 nights. The room was smaller than room 1, which was not a problem. The bathroom was smaller, too. It was big enough airy,it had everything I needed and wasn't too bad at all. The bed was comfortable. The room was facing the main road, so a little noise, but the windows were great at reducing it. The shops are close. The people in the pub were lovely too, and the staff were always welcoming. The communal kitchen was lovely and clean. Perfect and convenient to get to Uni.

There is a small bit of carpet from the room to the bathroom, which appears to be lifting. The room was great. I didn't like that the music was on to late but then again they are a pub so can't complain.

I stayed in room 1 for my first night and it was beautiful. The room was big and spacious. The windows are on the street which you park on so it's quite quiet. The bathroom was clean. The staff who showed me around was very helpful.

The pub was a bit loud on the first night. By the second night it didn't bother us and we were lulled to sleep by the karaoke!

The landlord was an amazingly helpful person. Anything at all, you just asked and it was done there and then. The bedroom was a good size and had private facilities. The help yourself continental breakfast had a lot of choice. The pub was great too. Very friendly customers.

We had a comfortable stay in a very pleasant room. The pub is a friendly local with good real ale and very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast is a self-service affair in the shared guest kitchen, which we only bothered with one but was fine. It is located in Stoke, not far from other pubs and restaurants, but bear in mind that Stoke (Town) is just one part of Stoke (city) and the city centre itself is in Hanley, a couple of miles to the north. It is handy for Stoke City's ground.

Bed was too hard for me but perfect for my partner so that’s more a personal preference rather than a complaint.

Lovely thoughtful details including the makeup flannel and the Amazon fire stick. Made it feel more homely and very much appreciated. Room was clean and tidy as was the kitchen area.

My only complaint is I wish there were a few more options for the continental breakfast, I was expecting more things like croissants, pancakes, fruit juice...etc. The options we had weren't bad at all but could have done with some more choices, such as croissants, pancakes, fruit juices...etc.

Landlord was very welcoming and helpful. The room was a decent size and the bed was big and very comfy. I liked having the use of the communal kitchen. The room was very clean and had a very homely feel to it. The TV had many channels and apps on it. Had everything you need really, can't fault the room at all.

Nothing bad to say. I prefer to stay at small places like this rather than at a big chain. Sometimes they can be hit and miss but The Sutherland Arms was definitely a hit.

Great pub atmosphere. Fab bar manager/host; he was so friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was ace. Everywhere was spotless too.
