There wasn't anything to grumble about at all.. It was a pleasure to stay for the night at half the price of many other options locally.

This place is brilliant, it has everything you need and more, friendly local pub downstairs (which doesn't cause to much noise and really quiets down at around 10pm on a Friday might I add), Excellent staff whom are friendly and professional (they really have gone above board to renovate the place and make it as comfy as possible to stay, the room itself was amazing and had more stuff for the guest than most places I've stayed (for example not 1 other place I stayed give you hot chocolate drinks (I mean c'mon what more can you ask for!? You want cookies too!!?? Well here's a shocker they provide them as well) , great value for money, self service kitchen which has a washer, dryer, iron and full kitchen which is fully stocked for breakie stuff and a bit more, I travel quite a lot all year round, and this is the literal best place I've stayed in yrs, (I'd even say they give The Hilton garden hotel competition with the price, and yes I've stayed there too). Overall I'd rate this place a solid 10 out of 10. And will be most certainly staying again if the place is available. Ps this is a honest review from a genuine customer. Sabastian.

The street wasn't nice. But that's Stoke. The Sutherland Arms is a safe secure Oasis.

Staff were great! We were lucky to come stay on a night they had a disco and karaoke, all the regulars were fun and welcoming too!!! Fab night!!

We were happy with everything.

We stayed here at the end of our UK trip. It was much more than we expected and was the least expensive of all the places we stayed. Steve was a great host as well as the bartender at the downstairs neighborhood bar. We greatly enjoyed interacting with the local patrons of the bar. The bed was great as was the shower. We would definitely stay here again.

Pleasant room, well furnished and thoughtful additions like make-up removal cloth and chilly bottle for fresh milk for tea/coffee - good selection of teas/coffees etc. Loved the breakfast setup - free access to well stocked kitchen with everything needed to make a perfect breakfast. Impressive. Excellent host - friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful.

No carpark at the property but we managed to get street parking and this wouldn't stop us from coming back 😀.

We received a lovely welcome and was given all the information we needed. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable and just 13 minutes from the town centre which was just £5.20 each way in a taxi. A nice continental breakfast was available in the kitchen which we could just help ourselves too. We would 100% stay again if we came to watch a show at the Regent Theatre in the future.

No dislikes at all. You don't go to The Sutherland Arms for the view, but it suited my needs perfectly.

Large spacious double room which was very comfortable, as was the bed. Although there was no cooked breakfast as such, the self service breakfast in the shared kitchen area was very welcome and well thought out with a good choice of cereals and other options. Would I return to The Sutherland Arms ? .... yes ! ... no question.

A superb place to stay! The room was gorgeous & bright, on the corner with three sets of windows, and a fascinating choice of furniture too. The shared kitchen was impressively stocked. And the pub downstairs is a quality, friendly locals pub.

We stayed for one night to attend a wedding in the local area. Polly and Steve were very accommodating and understanding with our request to check in early so we could drop our stuff off before the wedding. They worked hard to have our room ready early. The room was so lovely, it was very clear that a lot of care had gone into making the room and bathroom nice and comfortable, lots of lovely little touches. Very easy code system for getting around the building. The communal kitchen had everything we needed for breakfast. A very relaxed vibe.

A bit of hot in the room(At least the owner provided a fan, thank you for that). Somtimes there was big noise when using Toilet and shower, perhaps came from water pipe system?

I like the room, big, cozy, delicate windows. WIFI signals are good. Telly can watch Netflix if you have account to login.

friendly landlord and locals , help us with local taxi numbers, the breakfast was help yourself and there was pleanty of choice it was all left in a comunial kitchen which had washing machine and dryer , fridge ect. the bedroom was a little warm but we had a fan to use so that was nice. we only stayed for one night sunday where the pub downstairs closes early on sundays so no noise which we had expected given we where over a pub. would defo recomend it was perfect for us as we went to a concert at trentham gardens in the evening , then went back to visit the gardens and monkey forest the next day . the taxis where a realy good price although triple the price after the concert but roads had been closed so had to go the long way round . thanks so much from shirley and chloe

Nothing wrong with the place itself but as the owner said, there was a sort of loud manhole cover outside on the road, this was fine but that particular night was very hot, and we were provided with a large fan so can't really complain. My understanding is that the owner is trying to get the local council to fix it and is hopeful that it will be sometime soon.

This place was more than I expected when I had to find somewhere to stay on such short notice. The staff were friendly and very understanding. It is a Continental Breakfast, meaning that the kitchen is stocked with various cereals and food items that you can help yourself to, nothing wrong there.

All was as described. The bed was extremely comfortable and the kitchen facility was very well stocked. There was a minor housekeeping issue which the landlord responded immediately to. All staff were friendly and welcoming. We were met initially by Emma who was first class in imparting everything we needed to know to make our stay comfortable including recommendations for eating out locally. The landlord and landlady were also very welcoming, making sure our needs were being met.

We stayed here 3 nights for a trip to nearby Alton Towers and from the welcome we received from Andie until we left we can't fault the accommodation, the lovely decor, comfortable bed and great shower. The breakfast was self service, as described, just what we wanted and plenty of options, would recommend and stay again if in the area.
