Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe only slight issue was the shower that didn’t work correctly. I also bumped my head in the bathroom on the sloped ceiling but that’s part of the rooms character
The location is amazing and we love the rooms here

United KingdomLight breakfast was provided but this had to be eaten in the room, which was ok, but it would have been useful if the room had a tray provided to make that easier - if there was one, I couldn't find it. Also I thought that for an hotel of good quality furniture and facilities, the quality of the loo paper was terrible!
The location was the main usp, even though a bit challenging to find, closely followed by the unusualness of the building. Having secure car parking, in that location, was a big advantage. The room and the place itself was very well furnished.

United KingdomIn room breakfast was provided which was fine but was conscious that croissant made a lot of crumbs and felt a little sorry for cleaners.
Located in the middle of Lincoln old town within 300 yards of the cathedral, shops and restaurants and pubs this is superbly positioned to use as a base to explore from. Secure parking is provided with warm welcome. Room was well equipped, very clean and warm and wi-fi worked well. Would stay there again and recommend to others.

United KingdomThe only downside, even though so minuscule but thought I'd mention is that, it lies just off Steep Hill. The clue is in the name. This is the road that leads from the old part of the city on the top of the hill to the newer part of the city, at the bottom of the hill. It's steep but short. If you take your time you'll be fine. People with mobility issues may struggle, but don't let this put you off. Get a taxi. It's worth it !!
The Old Palace Lodge is simply one of the best buildings we have stayed in and the setting, in it's own grounds, with parking is amazing. Room was spacious. Very comfortable bed. Tea/coffee facilities outstanding. Continental Breakfast was just enough to get you going in the morning. Location was spot on in the centre of the old town with the Cathedral & Castle on the doorstep. The staff went above and beyond to help with any request from more milk to local attractions. Stunning ! Stunning ! Stunning !

United KingdomThe shower arrangement over the bath was not good I was fearful of splashing and soaking the floor! The hotel doesn’t do a cooked breakfast (but supplies a cold offering left on your door in the morning) However I did book a breakfast with a local cafe but being disabled I could not negotiate the steep long hills so had to miss out!
Excellent room and furnishings. Room was warm when we turned on the radiators so we turned them off when we retired to bed but in the morning when we opened the heavy beautiful curtains it became very cold due to the fact it is a converted church! But it did not affect our appreciation of the room at all.

United KingdomEverything was as good as you could possibly expect - I simply liked it all!
The Old Palace Lodge is as good as it looks. Lincoln is great especially the Castle and the Cathedral. Evensong in the Cathedral is magnificent. Stokes cafe astride the river Whitham is lovely. The Walk & Ride bus service is very handy if you want to get back up from the far end of the High Street quickly.

United KingdomDidn't really see any staff, would've been nice to have a chat or see some faces!
The fridge in the room and the breakfast on the door was a fantastic touch. Was so nice to wake up to the smell of warm croissants! The hotel was in a great location and close to old and more modern parts of the city. The room was cosy and comfortable, would definitely visit again.

Very central with secure gated parking just by the castle. It was warm and comfortable and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I liked the breakfast hanging on the door handle every morning- the croissants were lovely, warm and crispy. The smell was a great wake up call and the juice in the fridge was fresh and of good quality.
