Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyIf you book one of the budget rooms, be prepared that there may be little light in the room due to rather small windows.
The restaurant of the hotel is a blast providing amazing views, great food, a lovely interior design and very attentive service. Staff is extremely friendly and meeting the owner and learning about his journey with creating his own gin distillery was a truly fun experience which we can totally recommend (book at tour and tasting or if you have time at hand even better the workshop to create your own gin!).

United KingdomThe shower in our room flushed water intermittently throughout the night. This unfortunately made for a very disrupted nights's sleep. When checking out at early at 6am, we found the hotel front door locked and had to call the emergency number for help. Their system is that there is one key left on the reception desk for use during night hours. However, when we first tried to leave, another guest had the key. All resolved in the end, but a bit stressful as we had a ferry to catch.
The staff here are lovely and go over and above to make you feel welcome. We had a very early checkout and so would miss breakfast service. The staff very kindly made us up a packed lunch to take with us instead. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, and really enjoyed the food & view of the loch.

United StatesThe lighting wasn't very good and the room was a bit dated but I suppose the hotel itself is fairly old so that's to be expected. The bed was pretty uncomfortable.
The staff was great and the breakfast and dinner was really good with nice views of the loch. The overall location was also really nice, situated along the river.

GermanyEconomy rooms should be renovated. We did not feel comfortable in them. The photos look much better than the actual state of these rooms and their bathrooms.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good service. Nice restaurant (though quite pricey) and comfortable bar.

AustraliaThe TV did not work in our room. The internet was poor. The curtains in the room were not very good at keeping the light out. We stayed in a room in 'the annex'. If we were to visit this hotel again, we would request NOT to stay in one of those rooms.
Good location with beautiful views. Breakfast was very good.

United KingdomIt was a little tired and in need of some love and money spent on it. we stayed for two nights as part of a lengthy Scottish road trip. This was the most expensive of the hotels we stayed in even though it was not the best overall.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good, breakfast was excellent. We had a ground floor room with an outdoor sitting area.

United KingdomWe both ordered venison for our main meal which was over cooked, this was a sham as all other dishes were very good.
Brilliant location with great views and a very welcome beer garden. Room was a little dated but the bed was very comfy and we had a great sleep. Worth taking the path through tree to walk along the banks of the loch for some great views.

United KingdomThis was the most expensive hotel I booked for our 2 week trip so I had high expectations. The location is great and it's clearly an expensive area to stay. However our budget pet friendly room was in an annex and was too small for 2 people and a dog.
Great location, excellent full Scottish breakfast.
