Some of the carpets and hallways in the hotel were threadbare/damaged, and poorly painted condition, giving that area a rundown feel to it. Also, the hotel outside needs a good clean, and repaint, feels very jaded to look at. The building itself once upon a time, must have been amazing. The entrance to the hotel, the flower bed was all overgrown and sad, the steps, into the hotel, has poorly repaired damage. Needs some investment here! I did notice someone trying to pressure was the green slime off the outside pool area, so maybe some work in progress.

All public areas and rooms, to a good standard. Hotel staff always were very helpful. Breakfast was some days, a buffet and some days a la carte. Rather odd, but that maybe more to do with staff shortages.

But the shower did not work ! only there for one morning told the lady when giving the key back and she really couldn’t be bothered about it I asked what she could do about it and she said nothing!

I chose to stay at the Grand because of memories of going there as a treat for high tea as a child in the 80s (I've just been reminded by the next generation that that was a "long time ago and things change"). Whilst the human side remains grand, the decor in the communal areas and bedroom were very far from it. We booked a room with a sea view. Whilst I wasn't expecting a suite, I was disappointed at how small the room and window were. It was also rather shabby (without the chic). I was surprised shoes were allowed to be worn in the swimming pool area. WiFI was very weak in the room.

The staff were wonderful - very welcoming and friendly. The meals we had in the Bar in the evening were absolutely (surprisingly) delicious. Lots of fruit available for breakfast. The conversations the choice of interior design led to.

Initial room was horrid. Dark dingy and scruffy., shower not fit for purpose we were so disapointed. But on raising issues with staff room was changed and was much better. Cold selection for breakfast is lovely and fresh. But hot selection just ok

Being knocked at 7pm for house keeping, no coffee and tea for two days in the room asked at reception and felt like I was being fussy asking for drinks for the room

We had two evening meals in the hotel, one which was the Valentines meal. It was OK but not as good as I would have expected. We had to wait quite a while for the Valentines main course, I had the beef, it was awful and mainly inedible, it was meant to have a stuffed mushroom but didn't and the plate was 3/4 filled with mash. In addition whilst the music is enjoyable in the bar area it is really annoying in the dining room both for breakfast and dinner. There was a wedding function with a disco, which was fine but the music was also left playing in the dining room, it wasn't a nice atmospere. All the staff were helpful and pleasant, some very young but they did a good job, I think the Hotel would benefit from someone overseeing events.

The hotel was nice and the staff were all very good. Really liked the bar area. We had a lovely view from our double room. The room was big enough, the bathroom was dated but clean and functional. The room was serviced all 3 days of our stay. The breakfast was good but I would recommend adding it when booking as it wasn't that good that you would pay over £18 on the day.

Mattress in seaview room was too hard for me but that is my preference. Ladies changing room poor, needs refurbishing. 8/15 lockers had no keys. Showers and toilets in need of complete overhaul. Felt very unclean. Would have liked to have cheese at breakfast. Would have paid extra to have kippers or smoked haddock as we don't eat meat.

Spa massage by Scott was excellent and I would highly recommend a treatment by him. Reception staff very polite and helpful from when we arrived until we left. Hotel porter offered us help with our luggage and explained the parking in the hotel garage. The lady who cleaned our room asked us if we would like anything replaced. Staff at breakfast very attentive.

Unfortunately the leisure facilities need some TLC. The hot tub is not working and the swimming pool and changing area need updating- but despite this I would still revisit.

Good sized room with a lovely view of the sea. All staff were friendly and polite and we had an excellent and very relaxing stay. Lovely breakfast each morning and enjoyable evening meal overlooking the sea.

Rooms are very tired, especially the bathroom and the bed. The barman didn't know how to make cockatis. Restaurant should be painted in a different colour rather than colour blocking.

The reception area is very nice. receptionists are very welcoming . Bar looks good.breakfast is decent, nothing amazing, and not worth the price.

The breakfast is a bit disappointing and could do with a review. No healthy options such as porridge, avocado or granola. Not everyone wants a fry up. The bread options are also limited, no sourdough or rye bread.

I am a regular at this hotel, love the location on the beach front. I love that it has a well heated indoor pool and gym. The bar area is also nice to hang out in.
