The facilities are old needs a bit of a refurb. But that’s only the pool and changing rooms. Everything else was beautiful. Although there was a large stain on our floor so maybe refurb the carpets too. But this is just small things really.

Loved the hotel decor. Felt like the perfect place for a murder mystery party. Bed was made everyday. The staff were all very friendly and kind. Perfect location! Right next to the sea, which was good when we did a sea dip. Only a 50 min walk from Paignton beach as well. We had breakfast with our room and it was great every time!

Had a drink in the bar on a Sunday evening which was totally ruined by stupidly loud music. There was only half a dozen people there and nobody appreciated the disco music

The garish decor in breakfast room and lack of blinds to shield you from the sun that flooded the room. No hot choices other than full English breakfast. The garage looks like a bomb has hit it. The room heating was on a timer. We were cold.

    The lounge views.

At times communication problems in restaurant Expected staff to be properly trained on celiacs disease it was hard work when trying to order for my husband despite the fact our dinner was pre ordered your staff wasn’t very clear on my Husbands meal being completely gluten free!!! Even though I said it several times he has celiac disease Breakfast was hard work and a lot of waiting if your celiac even though I was speaking to staff as the card clearly stated Any Allergies or celiac’s disease on the restaurant entrance table .. To my Amazement they clearly aren’t well trained in this Area. Which is such a shame Hopefully you can do something about this for future guests.

All round excellent Throughout hotel and our room was AMAZING RECEPTION STAFF VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL

The room was too hot. The gym needs a massive up date The changing rooms were freezing and unkept We were very disappointed to hear that guests had been transferred from a sister hotel and got to stay at the grand for £30 with breakfast. Yet we paid over £168 for two nights no breakfast included. This seemed a bit of a let down. If staying in torquay I would recommend the headland hotel

That the staff were very welcoming and the bar area was lovely.

Bathroom needed updating. Requested walk in shower so that my mum registered disabled, could use it. Advised walk in showers only in family room which we would have to pay more for.

Lovely spacious warm room. Quality furniture. Nicely decorated. Good breakfast. Very reasonable price. Friendly accommodating staff.

Not enough staff. Took ages to check in and for breakfast cooked foods to be replenished. Room was a bit dated. We had lunch in the Bistro where I made waitress aware of allergy to bell peppers but side salad contained some green pepper. Parking was tricky, it wasn't clear where hotel free spaces were so we had to pay.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Room was spacious, warm and comfortable with a great view across the bay. The rate was good value. Buffet breakfast was included, with a reasonable choice of cooked items, fruit and pastries.

Decor in parts needs a refresh

Beautiful location, furniture in the room was a bit battered but in keeping with the theme. It was well equipped with everything you needed with tea and coffee in rheumatoid arthritis room. Breakfast was buffet style but was great. Staff were all lovely, welcoming, polite and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

It is in need of renovation in certain areas. The breakfast offering is in desperate need of an upgrade, no healthy options if you want to avoid a fry up.

The location and the 2 pools. This is why we book this hotel and return every few months.

Breakfast was Excellent, Bathroom a bit dated prefer a proper shower not a bath shower with curtain, if you do not have room for a separate shower should use a 'P' bath with glass surround with a shower.

The room needs some updates. The glass top of the bedside tables needs fixing as it's moving, which is very annoying and stressful, especially with kids. Although the remote control wasn't working, we managed to fix it ourselves. 😕 The view from the room wasn't nice, but since we stayed only one night, we didn't complain. The room service wasn't helpful either. Whenever we tried to order something, they were either too busy or unable to accommodate us, promising to do it later. 🤷 After three calls, they informed us that we had an old menu in the room and said someone would bring us a new one. 🙈 They did, but we gave up and went to eat outside instead, as we couldn't be bothered to call again, fearing they might be busy once more. 😒 The swimming pool is good, but the water is too cold🥶, making it hard to enjoy for too long. 😔 Additionally, the changing rooms are also very cold 🥶 but as well need updating and cleaning in the evening.

Great hotel with parking, perfect location, lovely staff at the reception, indoor swimming pool 👍, and comfy beds.

The room we had was on the top floor, very small. Couldn't stand up straight in the shower because of a sloping wall. Heating didn't work properly, was so cold in the room. Some of the staff were a bit rude. No music in the bar area, bit strange.

Location was excellent. Across the road from the sea. Pleasant walk to the harbour and bars. Food was good. Nice selection for breakfast.

Some of the carpets and hallways in the hotel were threadbare/damaged, and poorly painted condition, giving that area a rundown feel to it. Also, the hotel outside needs a good clean, and repaint, feels very jaded to look at. The building itself once upon a time, must have been amazing. The entrance to the hotel, the flower bed was all overgrown and sad, the steps, into the hotel, has poorly repaired damage. Needs some investment here! I did notice someone trying to pressure was the green slime off the outside pool area, so maybe some work in progress.

All public areas and rooms, to a good standard. Hotel staff always were very helpful. Breakfast was some days, a buffet and some days a la carte. Rather odd, but that maybe more to do with staff shortages.
