Seemed to be a shortage of light bulbs, so only real issue lack of lighting in some areas

No one told me hoq to switch boiler on but got it working in the end. Its strange it was turned off but I assume its to limit the noise

Location for those traveling through or doing Hadrian'Wall path is great as bus and rrqin stops are just in front. It had no toiletries, only small bar of soap, otgerwise ok for what it costs.

Excellent location and the structure is a lovely historical building, comfortable. We spent one night during our cyclic tour, and it was nice to discover this beautiful city, with great places to eat and pleasant walking paths. The breakfast is delicious, and the staff is very professional and friendly1.

Up on 2nd floor, but comfortable. Shower not very powerful.

Welcoming staff, and great location. Free parking 50 yes away. Opposite station so great for transport links. 72 hour free parking by travelodge. Good breakfast. No dinner on night we arrived but loads of places in the town. Loved the dog too.

On arrival immediately asked to pay.Were not allowed atab. Accosted by drunken woman in lounge / bar area.Could only get evening meal on the first night.Long wait for evening meal but food was good.

The bar closed at 9:30. With no other facilities, another hour would have been welcome.

While fairly basic, the room was comfortable and any street noise was eliminated. Breakfast was very good, as was the Station Bitter served in the bar.

Room in need of some TLC, wallpaper peeling off walls in places, bed side lamps dusty. Shower room very cold, could use a heated towel rail and toilet roll holder missing pieces.

Very very tired surroundings. Badly leaking windows and cold in dining room. The shower in room 9 took ten minutes to get warm. No fruit or yogurt so limited options for a healthy breakfast.

I didn't like loud drunken men at the bar. They made me feel uncomfortable. But that is more of my problem not the staff. As the drunk men were probably harmless.

Very friendly greeting by ‘Lauren’. Nice breakfast room with ample cooked breakfast, cereal and pain au chocolat 😋. Easy location for the station 🚉 and town centre.

It is an upgraded pub with rooms upstairs. Staff are very friendly and do everything possible to make you feel welcome. Rooms are refurbished and bright, though showing some signs of their age. Breakfast is hearty and straightforward, and so are the meals. Sunday roast is recommended. Location is opposite the train station, ideal for walkers and other non-car users.

Bed mattress a bit too stiff Kettle too big to fill under the tap, so needs cup to transfer water into jug. Light above sink to see own face notvworking.
