Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomI ordered a breakfast for a dairy free member and noone knew about this...reception was having a new floor laid when we arrived and reception was on a table in the dining room with a staff member who didn't know what he was doing, room was OK dated, and the door/ window lock was broken and the TV came on by itself in the middle of the night, the bed was on castors and rolled around everytime you moved in bed .. reception in the morning was flooded., from a leaking ceiling, took staff a while to put signs out ..staff un friendly and not helpful

United KingdomEven though I was told the night before check out that I had a room allocated to me for my next booking, they could not let me check in before I had to leave the hotel for the day. There were a lot of stairs and narrow hallways to room, which I had to navigate with a heavy suitcase as lifts did not access this part of the building.
After checking out of previous room (made 2 separate bookings for the same weekend) the new room was amazing. Clean, spacious, light, air con and a working shower.

United KingdomThe area of the hotel we stayed in was dated dark and desperately needed redecorating. The room had a broken curtain which didn't fully close. The rooms are so old there is no noise reduction so everytime someone opened or closed the door it sounded like it was your door! The vending machine in the lobby only took coins so we couldn't get a drink. It wasn't the room advertised either.
24 hour check in was useful as we arrived very late. It was clean. And there was a kettle and tea and coffee and a hairdryer.

AustraliaThe room was a little smaller than expected but was nice and clean. The same applies to the bathroom - small and tight but nice and clean. The toilet was missing one of its flushing buttons. The sink drain was an open hole, so if you dropped anything down there, you'd never get it back. The towels felt like they hadn't been fully rinsed of their detergent as you could feel the residue rub onto your skin when in use. There were no power points near the beds to easily charge your phones
The location was great and we were able to easily access everything we wanted to see. There were also restaurants nearby which was nice. Breakfast had a good selection of food and drinks. The front desk (male) was the most helpful staff member our entire trip and very friendly. The room fan provided inside the closet was a God send as the room itself was quite hot even with the window open.

United KingdomThe double room would have been OK as a single! There was just room on one side of the bed to get a cushion on its edge between the bed and the wall, plus you risked banging your head on the TV if you got up in the night. No space for any bedside tables (even small ones) for alarm clocks, spectacles, books or cups of coffee. Not much room for two people to get past one another. Glad we had only a limited amount of luggage, because there wasn't space for a lot. Shower could have done with a tray or shelf.
Room and bathroom were clean, freshly decorated and felt "new". We could leave bags for a few hours without any problem or extra charge. The breakfasts had a good range of food (except for fried eggs!) and were good value for the price.
