Easy to access. Staff welcoming, able to drop luggage early. Good breakfast and choice of options. Bear to city centre and related attraction, shops etc.

Some staff were quite rude and although obviously stressed, it was unnecessary. Some staff were nice and helpful. One young girl (long dark hair) was very short with myself and with one of her older colleagues which was unpleasant. We were given an inappropriate room that had a sofa bed missing after it already taking 40 minutes to check in then we had to wait another half hour with a very tired child, and dog, to wait for another room, on another floor. We had no bath in either room. The key cards didn’t work for either rooms and we had to come back down to wait in queue twice to have this resolved, which to be fair the staff were apologetic for and fixed. Other guests had the same problem. 2 usb plug ins bedside didn’t work. The carpets were dirty, especially around the bin with unsightly brown stains and splash marks on walls in my room, and my friend’s room on another floor. The car parking fee was extortionate, the extra fee to have a dog in the room was over priced when it did not require extra cleaning and I found it insulting when I saw the state of the carpets in the rooms on arrival.

The bed was comfortable, the room size good. The bar and restaurant are nice and reception comfortable.The location good

We forgot to check the thermostat before bed, and for some reason it was set at 21 degrees, so we all woke up in the middle of the night sweltering. My son had a fold-out bed made of uncomfortable material and there was no way of tucking the sheet in, so he didn't sleep well either. Finally turned the heat down and the fan on, and our son got in with us - in the end not a terrible night of sleep - and to be fair it was our responsibility to check the temp - but i question whether anyone manages to sleep if the default is so hot!

Comfortable well-appointed room, very good mattress on the double bed, good bar and very pleasant front of house/lobby area with nice diversions for kids. They had football on the TV which pleased my son immensely. Free drink if you signed up to their loyalty programme. Helpful, friendly staff and a great location about ten mins walk from central York.

We was very upset to find out the swimming pool was out of order, it’s one of the reasons we booked this hotel with our children at half term only to find out a couple of days before the pool was out of order

Found the quilt to be very stained and old which was off putting and the fridge in our room had a lot of crumbs in it which would suggest it hadn't been cleaned but that was minor in comparison to the lovely stay we had

To staff were very helpful and attentive. Lovely sized rooms, the restaurant and bar were great and the kids corner was a great touch
