The seagulls woke me up about 4am. I would've liked more central guest house/hotel.

Shower wasn't very powerful, but it's what you would expect from an old house (a beautiful old house!) so not a big problem.

Breakfast was lovely. Staff were lovely but weren't in your face and fussy which made a lovely change - thank you for being so professional and finding the right balance! Everything was well thought out, including a handy fan in the room. Wonderful!

Seagulls are rather active from early in the morning - not the hotels fault. Room 7 & 8 on the top floor which is two full flights of stairs, be wary if like me you struggle with stairs. Manageable for a few days though.

Lovely manager allocated us a room with a huge bed on request as we are both tall. Lovely clean, specious room in a quiet area. Great cafe on the ground floor.

The whole building can be a bit too warm but a fan was provided in our room.

The property is immaculate and very modern. Spacious rooms and had everything we needed.

Ground floor room, opposite the dining room and the entrance hallway so very noisy. No chance of a lie in or an afternoon nap.

Location was good for our purposes. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, very good breakfast selection extremely well cooked and perfectly presented.

Breakfast was great. Not a lot of choice for the price. No fresh fruit or yogurt. Time for breakfast was abit too early and pushed 8 till 9 . Check out on a Sunday 10am quite early.

Although the room was adequate, we were a little disappointed to find out when we left that we were not in one of the best rooms. We were told that the room was due to be refurbished. We fully understand that it is necessary to refurbish one room at a time so there may always be a room or 2 not up to the standard of the rest but we felt very unlucky that our room was one of them.

Location, we all elderly. Too far to walk to town also bus stop. Taxi every time we go to Spa and town and back.

Only tiny problems: little bits of mould on shower seal and I know it's a bit trivial but their hand soap system is a bit bizarre and for someone with arthritic hands was a real challenge to use ( had to use my shower gel instead)!!!

Rowntree Lodge is about 15 - 20 min walk from the centre of Scarborough, 5 mins in a taxi from the station which we did so convenient as non drivers. We had a third floor double room ( so make sure your fit! ) ....very comfy bed and was very grateful for blinds and curtains as I'm a light sleeper. Also plenty of hot water and clean towels. Lovely choice of breakfast , hot and cold. It's a two minute walk to the view above South bay , I've attached the first photo I took to show the amazing view.😀
