Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomHalf a sea bream fillet but that has less to do with the hotel, more the restaurant within it. As you're free to eat anywhere in Morecambe so do that.
We arrived a touch early for check in so we asked if we could leave the car while we had a wander around Morecambe. The receptionist said it was no problem and if she could get our room ready earlier she would call us to let us know. This lady was a trooper and honestly to her our room was ready early and she called us to let us know. We were personally greeted by name on our return to her and she was so pleasant. A total asset and immediately we felt happy and at home here. We stopped in the bog standard room. I'll be honest it was lovely. Nicely decorated, great facilities, lovely shower comfy bed, quiet cosy as many superlatives we can include here we would! All for a little more than a naff premier inn. We loved the feel of it and the amazing bits of design in the room. We felt relaxed above all! We checked the bar in the late afternoon and the staff there were outstanding. Great selection of drinks, yeah a little more than a pub, but you're paying for a nice view as well, so no bother there happy at that. We had our evening meal here. Now this is a mixed bag. You're obviously free to eat where ever so I aren't providing a score for the meal but more a description. So I had venison with wild garlic risotto which was really nice, well cooked full of umami and the risotto just a touch of firmness in the rice. Great stuff. My wife had the seabass fillet which was a special. For a £25 dish we felt half a seabass fillet that was slightly overcooked with a salad and a few chips in a side dish really wasn't good value. The sauce it came with was also a bit wishy washy. So £19 for Bambi with risotto was a score in my eyes. Advice. There's plenty of places to eat in Morecambe, eat in one of those. That aside the staff again were helpful and friendly to a tee and whilst the wife felt her meal could of been better, I was happy with mine. Breakfast was lovely.

United KingdomUnfortunately, the food in the evening in the restaurant, was not particularly good. The shrimps were tasteless. The mussels dish contained quite a number of shards of broken shell that were sharp and hidden by the sauce. Very risky!
The hotel is very nice The view from the conservatory is lovely The staff are friendly Ample parking Close to amenities

United KingdomDinner was appalling. No other word for it. Potted shrimps are NOT shrimps floating in warm oil. The ‘Pie of the week’ was a steak pie. I have never seen anything like it. It was the lowest quality meat in some kind of squashed pastry. It was tasteless. The mussels were very small, clearly very young. We sent back the dal main course as inedible. Dal should not be crunchy and it tasted foul. They refunded the cost of that dish. If you’re going to have dinner at the hotel, and I strongly suggest you don’t, have a burger or fish and chips. They could probably manage that.
Breakfast good. Reasonable variety on offer. Great to have breakfast overlooking the bay. Attentive staff.

United KingdomI did not like the loss of the lovely formal restaurant, with the white table cloths and individual service. This together with the wonderful arena view over Morecambe Bay gave this hotel an edge over many others. Its specialness has been taken away and it has been reduced to nothing more than ordinary which I thought was sad. I did not like the new colour scheme of brown and creams which I found dull and drab and frankly depressing. I know that I am old school but guests allowed into the dining room during evening dinner in shorts is a source of regret. The problem being that there is no longer a definable dining room.
The art deco aspect of the hotel and the wonderful view of Morecambe Bay . I liked just being in the hotel as it retains a certain ambience from its history, the lounge areas are comfortable to rest in and the staff on the whole are helpful and efficient. The bedroom was comfortable and the view over Morecambe Bay from my bedroom was a delight. Food was good and well prepared. Good choice at breakfast and the breakfast buffet was adequate. Breakfast was good but the lack of teapots and the supply of only small cups meant that you never really got a good cup of tea and had to keep returning to refresh the cup. Dinner was good but compared to how it used to be the menu lacked finesse. Fine dining it was not, so that the restaurant that had once been so special although still good was reduced to the ordinary, it reminded me of service in the average pub. The Midland is a lovely hotel but it is losing that which made it unique and special, which may be a sign of the times but I felt was sad. Reception staff were efficient, kind and helpful.

United KingdomThe dining room. Ordering at the bar. Quality of the menu and food at breakfast.
This was our second visit, first since Inn Collection took it over. It's hard not to compare the two visits as, as far as I can tell, there was no sign of improvement from the new owners. Our sea view room with balcony was spotless, comfortable and spacious, with good bathroom accessories. The dining room was disappointing, having preferred the experience of white tablecloths and silver service, but it was not unpleasant and the staff were attentive, friendly and efficient. However, the food prompts a mixed response. Breakfast was nowhere near as good as previously. In fact, my partner sent his full English breakfast back uneaten as it was cold, the black pudding solid and the egg hard. He wasn't the only person to do so. He refused a replacement, as he had gone off the whole idea by then. One evening we both ordered the mussels, which were absolutely delicious and the chips with them were just like Mum used to make. It was a dish we couldn't fault. But somehow, with the ambience of a classy 4 star hotel, queuing and ordering food and drinks at the bar is very out of place and quite annoying. I know the clue is in the name of the new owners - The Inn Collection - but it's a huge mistake to try and treat The Midland as just another inn and you have to wonder why they took over a hotel with such a striking difference in service provision. However, we love The Midland and it's unique location and will probably stay again in the future.

I was with a brother with special needs. There was space, the bar areas were comfortable, the room was airy and spacious and the bathroom was easy to use and not cramped. There was also adequate space for clothing for two people up to 3 days we only stayed one night.

Slightly strange layout of bathroom - loo hiding behind folding door - but meant if you turned on light person nearest the bathroom got it full on and pitch black otherwise. By 9.30 breakfast was a bit tired.
