Excellent location in beautiful parkland. Comfortable room & easy parking. Breakfast cooked to order & so served hot - such a treat these days!

Beautiful hotel and grounds, quiet location but conveniently located for transit to central London, Wembley or Harry Potter studios.

The view was not a garden view, but car park and brick wall. Drive way up to the house, full of pot-holes.

The location was very idyllic, and easy to find by following the brown signs. Nice grounds to walk through The room was very large and spacious, bed very comfortable and good for a person with a bad back. Good breakfast, with a good selection in the main house and very light and airy. Staff, welcoming and friendly. We were in the Garden Rooms to the back, which did mean we didn't hear the party going on in the main house. Would definitely go back if in the area.

    Nothing.

Everything. A unique property, a privilege to stay anywhere like this. The staff matched the property, every one of them that we met were super friendly and so efficient. They were also so accommodating and always with a smile 😃. The grounds are spectacular as is the house. The guest toilets on the first floor are probably the freshest we have ever seen. The food was very good, cooked breakfasts were super. In places It has got a bit of a "faded glory" aura about it, but this does not detract from its charm. Just ignore the fact that our bedroom windows had definitely seen better days! Go and enjoy it!!

It was difficult to access the bar and restaurant area in the morning for coffee. I arrived at 9 AM, but the doors were closed. Access should be easier for hotel guests or clearly explained during check-in.

The terrace was fantastic for enjoying a drink or meal. The room was clean and comfortable, but noise from neighboring rooms made it easy to wake up. Additionally, the car park needs improvement, as there is no space left between the cars.

The shower water pressure was not good and the restaurant food was average at best

The location was fabulous and the property itself is full of ambience and character. The surrounding countryside was great for walking. The staff, especially Evin in the bar and the three ladies in the restaurant were very friendly.

When we checked in the first room (109) was very poor. It had a carpet that was worn out for example and was in serious need of upgrading.

A lovely main building. Only one point. It seems a member of staff (off duty) sitting in bar area complaining about another…. drinking a large red wine. Her conversation could be heard. Not a good look.

A three star experience at four star prices - but the house and gardens are truly beautiful

Service tended to be very slow - the hotel is understaffed. We would have liked a dessert after our otherwise excellent meal on the first night, but, after being offered the pudding menu and made our choices, 15 minutes later still nobody had come back to take an order. We settled the bill in the bar, then ate elsewhere the other two nights. Breakfast on the Saturday morning was poor - the "smashed avocado... on home-made bloomer" was an under-ripe avocado which had been sliced on a piece of toasted sliced white bread. Disappointing, as the bread with our meal the night before had been excellent. Porridge was of gruel-like consistency, it could have been poured from a cup - I left it. We asked at reception if we could cancel breakfast for the following two mornings but were told that, having booked through booking.com that wasn't possible (really?). However, the helpful lady on reception made a note of the problem and insisted that, if breakfast wasn't properly done the next morning, to "send it back and get them to do it again". Somebody obviously got the message, breakfast the next morning was very good (even if the presence of a pork sausage in the "vegetarian breakfast" was unexpected - we aren't vegetarian, so it wasn't a problem, but I suspect for one who was, it would be...) At this price point we expect a small fridge with some fresh milk - a plastic tray with two sachets of Nescafe instant coffee, some tea bags and plastic cartons of UHT milk doesn't cut it. A cafetiere was provided - although tantalizingly with no ground coffee on the first day, two sachets of caffeine-free coffee arrived the following day.

We enjoyed an excellent starter and main course in the restaurant on our first night. The staff were friendly and helpful, with one lady going out of her way to find us some pictures and show us rooms relating to W.S.Gilbert, one of the reasons we had wanted to visit the house. The house itself is well looked after, the gardens beautiful, the location tranquil. The hotel has plenty of car parking - given the location of the hotel, up a long private drive and well away from the road, along with good lighting and CCTV, it felt a secure place to leave our car. Despite its shortcomings - see below - we did enjoy our stay at Grim's Dyke and will visit again in the future. A little extra care and effort would bring it up to the four star experience that the house deserves.

Just requires a little TLC to general decor to raise it a level but our room was acceptable and very clean.

Beautiful rural location just a short drive from local communities. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant food was tasty with decent sized portions. Breakfast also very good. Price was competitive for the area.

It just felt a bit tired, we were put in the garden rooms not the main house, the bathroom door was worn and chipped at the bottom, the mirrors were stained with something (not sure what). Just didn’t seem to be worth the money they charged for it. Had to wait to be seated for breakfast and the eggs were overdone.

It’s a great historic house that appears in the middle of the woods so very peaceful setting considering it’s in the middle of a London suburb.
