The bed was awfully hard. I had read some reviews saying mattresses were hard in some rooms and people had to request a move. So I sent a message weeks beforehand requesting not to have a hard bed as we have back problems. However the bed was hard so we didn't sleep much.

Baked beans with breakfast that was the only thing

The breakfast was very good and lovely and hot was disappointed no baked beans as I like that with my breakfast. The staff are a credit to the hotel very polite and nothing was to much trouble .i would not hesitate to recommend this hotel

Towel rail didn't work at all staff tried but couldn't get it working so we had to put our towels out every day which isn't very eco-friendly bathroom very dated

As others have said it’s quite dated and the rooms don’t really match up to the pictures. Lovely big room but quite tired decor which wasn’t very modern, with stained cramped bathtub and old clunky toilet

Out bedroom didn’t look anything like the room we saw online when we booked. Whilst the room and bathroom were clean, it felt very old and tired and the bath was totally stained green - not a pleasant look.

Breakfast choice was fairly limited which is shame, improving it would make it perfect stay. Sockets next to bed in our room were older UK standard with round pins, so modern appliances couldn't be plugged next to bed. There were new standard sockets in other places of the room, so still possible to charge phone, just not comfortably next to bed.

We stayed in Chiseldon House Hotel as our overnight stay during our multiday hike on The Ridgeway. It was about 3km from The Ridgeway which still makes it good location even for hikers on foot. For other people, there is enough of parking space on the property. The building and garden looks amazing. Room was spacious and nicely decorated. Dinner was really good.

At times the hotel was without doubt understaffed, particularly at breakfast. Our room could do with the bathroom re-fitting but this may be in future plans.

Only the restaurant let us down. A limited menu. The first course was excellent but the main course disappointed - somewhat tired chicked and potato dauphinoise.

Very large well laid out breakfast room and good service with very good quality food. Although an older house the new owners have furnished the whole house to a very high and appropriate standard. Our bedroom was large and comfortable. Well decorated, clean and fresh with a bathroom to match.

No lift and there were long corridors and stairs to lug luggage along. No lighting on path to and from car park.

Great breakfast made to order. Staff friendly, polite and very helpful.
