The spa had to be paid for separately. You had to book for to go in. You couldn’t go in when you wanted. We were there for a wedding, but wouldn’t stay there for a normal stay. Not worth the money you pay.

The lodge was close to the main hotel and reception but was not the cleanest and small. It had tea making facilities, was supposed to have a microwave but there wasn’t one. Shower was rubbish. Had to let it run a while before it would run at the proper temperature.

Expensive lodge but poorly maintained. Self-catering lodge yet there are barely no kitchen essentials and accessories. No cleaning equipment inside. Floors creaking. Advertised as a hotel & spa, but pool and spa facilities closed at the time of check-in. No staff had the courtesy to inform any of our guests about this. Advertised that it has 24-hour front desk, yet no one on site when we had problems with hotel key card in the middle of the night. Manager has poor training how to handle complaint; didn’t acknowledge fault instead became discriminating and arrogant. Not a good experience for a supposedly relaxing getaway.

    Location is near.

The first lodge we were allocated was less than impressive, freezing cold with no joy from the thermostat so ended up being moved, which I must say was handled very well. The two lodges we had gone in were very tired, and lots of jobs that could of been done very easily had been ‘bodged’. Zero water pressure in the shower, the walls are paper thin and the beds were double but felt very small. we had a surround sound audio of the three rooms around us and we really hope the guy next doors cold gets better soon. The staff all disappeared before 10pm so we couldn’t get another drink, which in a way was a blessing as £24 for two whiskeys was going to bankrupt me.

The reception area was warm and welcoming

the hot tub outside was off the tent was closed, the pool areas and indoor jacuzzi were freezing then they closed all the facility’s that was the biggest reason we went there was for the facility’s, the main bar was closed I think because it was too cold and the main hotel is freezing usually like to get afternoon tea in the hotel use facilities but it’s was just too cold so we stayed in the lodge which was loverly and warm, downside there’s no Wi-Fi or reception in the lodge so kept having to come to main hotel.

the staff make the place there very helpful loverly ppl, can’t do enough to help! always smiling and welcoming…we were on our mini moon they upgraded us, made allowances for the dog.

The pool and jacuzzi were unusable as they were cold and waiting for parts. The parts are not coming until the new year. The older chef wasn't accommodating and would make me a sauce I requested. It sounded like he was a stickler for the rules and wouldn't make anything not on the menu. Also the new bar menu had mostly items which contained cheese which I can't eat.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Sharon in the bar and Karen in the restaurant stood out and couldn't do enough for you.

The room quality for the price of the nights stay was very average, if you’re looking for a nice hot tub stay this is okay - but there’s definitely better value for money elsewhere. They stated to provide robes and slippers - it was just robes. The cabin itself wasn’t very warm either it took all night to heat up- I’d maybe suggest if they know the cabins been booked for the night then warming it up prior to the guests checking in would make a huge difference.

The breakfast was actually decent and the lady serving breakfast was super friendly and polite. There was plenty of options for breakfast too.

The bedroom and some of the common areas were shabby. Stained carpets, plastic on the sofa in the bedroom was coming off - generally needs TLC/refurbishment. The room key was a nighmare - took numerous times before it would work and several visits to reception.

Very nice breakfast - cooked and cold buffet. Lots of wooded areas and grounds to explore around the hotel. Dining room has lovely views. Plenty of parking.

The food. I didn't enjoy the breakfast at all, so we decided not to have our dinner there or breakfast the next day. We went out for dinner and got something for light for breakfast. The pastry was delicious but not the main hot breakfast.

I loved the atmosphere, the staff are great and location is beautiful. I also enjoyed the character of the interior design very beautiful.

there are probably disabled facilities in designated cabins/rooms, but I was not in one. I found it difficult because both entrances had a high step/steps but there were no hand rails to help. the cabin roof was overhanging, just enough to send a cascade of rainwater right down the back of your head/neck.

cabin was warm and cosy and dining room was pleasant, service and breakfast was good. reception and check in was easy and quick. There was a reasonable charge of £15 for having a dog with you, and certainly plenty of space to exercise one.

The bar food was pretty poor. Not fresh and a bit undercooked. The breakfast buffet food and coffee was luke warm and had been there a bit too long by the time we'd booked in a 945am. The woodwork / decor in the cabin was pretty tired and needed some sprucing up. Smelled a bit damp inside, esp the bathroom.

Great woodland location. Enjoyed inclusive use of spa facilities. Staff were all friendly and there was a relaxed, happy atmosphere. Great that dogs are welcome. Catered for vegetarians / vegans, including alternative milks, vegan yoghurt and veggie sausages for breakfast on request.
