The only light in the room were the two lamps on the ceiling, rather bright and shining directly in ones faces when laying on the beds. A couple of table lamps on the night stands would help a lot at only little expense. Also a small fridge could do quite a lot good for a stay. With its current furnishing I wouldn’t like to stay there for more than 3-4 nights

Location is a bit outside of the most popular sights, but very easily accessible by bus and there is a good grocery store right around the corner. The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming, check-in was fast and uncomplicated. Room cleaning was how we like it- they didn’t touch the beds, but the trash was emptied in time and everything else kept clean.

The bed was small and too soft, not very clean overall.

Location was good, check-in after 18:00 was easy.

Shower head didn’t work properly, it leaked and wouldn’t stay up on the pole making showering difficult. The shower cubicle was very small. There were a few little bits of rubbish left in the room and it could maybe do with a good dust. Could hear other people in the guest house quite clearly and the street outside was a little noisy.

Good location, only 15mins away from princes street. Plenty of cafes/coffee shops etc close by. Comfortable bed. Good for a short stay.

A full Scottish breakfast, cereals, fresh juice and coffee would have been nice.

Pity breakfast was not on offer. That would have made my stay much better. Very pleasant and helpful staff.

The room was not as clean as it could have been, we found hair around. The spaces were really tight

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The guesthouse is just a short walk to nearby bus routes that take you into Edinburgh old town. Despite the university accommodation being directly across the street, the area is actually pretty quiet. With so many busy roads nearby too, I was expecting it to be far noisier than it actually was. Especially in the evenings, it was lovely. Loads of restaurants and fast food options just a short walk away. The room we stayed in is small (I knew this before booking) but it was clean and tidy, with tea and coffee making facilities provided. I loved the tartan carpets in the main hall and stairs.

The small room and the cleaniness

The first two nights were great, we really enjoyed ourselves, the room was big and spacious, on the third night we added after the room was very small and crowded, not clean, and the shower was not pleasant

It could be a bit more clean especially the bathroom was not really inviting - but for one night it was okay.

The Guest House is quiet close to the Grassmarket and the Castle. It takes about 20/25 minutes to get there. The rooms offer everything you might need. They are not to small and not to big and they have a shower. The Owner was friendly and explained everything to us.

The mattresses (very soft and caving into the centre) and pillows (on the hard side) were not very comfortable. No bedside lights.

Excellent location within walking distance of Haymarket train station and lots of restaurants and cafes. Had twin beds rather than a double which is what we were looking for.

The room we stayed in needs a lot of updating, the lack of modernisation did put me off a little but all other services were great. You could overlook it.

The room we stayed in was large and spacious, although in need of a lot of modernisation, it had everything we needed. You get complementary snacks and tea in the room which was a nice touch. They also had a lovely large reception area with seating. The location is in a beautiful location, you get a view of the lake once you step out. Staff were lovely and breakfast was fantastic. You’re given a menu with a wide selection as well as fruits, cereal and juices. Definitely the highlight of the stay!

I couldn’t figure out how to work the shower. Once I let the host know they showed me how to flick the fuse on in the room (very simple). But as someone not from the UK a little heads up or note on the switch would be good 😊

The host was lovely and very welcoming. Great location to the shops and old town also the neighbourhood was very safe and quiet.

Very bad WIFI, bed was lumpy, toilet smelt a little, TV did not work, was a little far from the Grass Market, room faced onto what looked like low end apartment's and a parking lot and I only saw a staff member on entry and it was a very transactional conversation.

It was cute and relatively clean.
