The room was very hot, especially at night and we couldn't open the window.

We booked the Ashley but ended up staying at the Arundel, which was closer to town. The room was a spacious family room on the ground floor, facing the river.

    Tired and dated decor.

Comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Helpful and pleasant staff. Good location. Good value. Not noisy (even though next to a main road). Easy to get to. Ample on site parking.

Lugging my luggage up and down the narrow staircases.

Large room, with separate bathroom and toilet. Clean and as advertised. Bed was comfortable. This was a very old style building with lots of narrow staircases leading to all the rooms. Breakfast was old school English cooked breakfast with cerals, toast & jams available.

    Can't think of anything.

We were going to go out to eat when a member of staff recommended the hotel food, we were not dissappointed we dined in the fabulous orangery, food was excellent and surroundings beautiful, very relaxing. Then breakfast in the restaurant both were very pleasant and the food was excellent.

Ended up staying at sister hotel. Quite strange entrance as it wasn't very obvious to find. However, staff were lovely, room was comfortable (if old fashioned), and it was perfectly located. All in all we had a very pleasant stay!

We were told to check in at the sister hotel (10 minutes down the road), but after queuing at Reception for 20 minutes we were told that on this occasion we should check in directly at our own hotel. It would have been good to have been told this in advance.

This hotel is cheaper than its sister hotel (The Arundel) because it doesn’t have 24-hour reception cover, and is slightly further out of town. But somehow this makes it seem friendlier and less pretentious. The (family) room was comfortable and the bathroom had a window (rather than being internal), which was nice. There is a large car park, which we were able to park in (for free) several hours before formally checking in.

Not a lot to say on the negatives side. The furniture style was a little old but still in mint condition. We were woken up on our second morning by a staff member attempting to enter the room. I think she had thought we left as was going to clean it, an honest mistake that was easily forgivable.

The breakfast was very good, decent vegetarian options for me and my partner and was fast enough so we could have it before our days out. The room was superb. The decor was a little dated but still in amazing condition. The room had clearly been cleaned thoroughly; bed sheets were spotless and all the surfaces had been wiped dustless. There were coffee and tea provided in the room which was a very thoughtful touch and the room never felt cramped. The water pressure nearly knocked me over in the shower which is amazing considering hotels typically have poor bathrooms but our ensuite was perfect. All staff were friendly and eager to help with any questions asked, lovely place.

Booked with Ashley hotel, was switched to Arundel hotel. Didn't realize the Ashley wasn't back in business. The Arundel was in a good location, but was certainly an older building, as it smelled musty.

Good location for those walking and without a car. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with options of continental or English style.

Staff were friendly, but they were very short staffed in the morning which affected our breakfast especially as we had a deadline. Ensuite bathroom was dusty in the corners.

    Good location with parking.
