To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

NetherlandsBreakfast: They can add some veggies/fruit. Stuff: Some of the stuff we're very polite and happy to welcome you, but some are definitely NOT! They should learn how to be polite... Bathroom: Very small shower but still OK, dirty toilet seat. Bedroom: Would have been nicer to have king-size bed. TV wasn't working. Parking: The parking was 30 euros a day (they should make it lower, since all the hotels nearby offer parking 10-15e and btw it is still quite far from the city center).
The location was OK... 5-10 mins to Bus/Metro. It was quite clean, but it can be improved... Queen-size bed. The breakfast was simple but nice.

MaltaI informed the staff before our arrival that we needed to use the luggage store on both arrival and departure dates but both dates the receptionist told us that it was not possible due to a full storage room. On our departure they let us use the luggage room after complaining that we specifically informed them that we needed to use these facilities so as not to run a full day around with luggages
The location was close to the metro so although not in central Paris it was easy to reach the highlights with the metro

United KingdomSome staff did not speak english at all (there was a fire drill and they couldn't explain if there was a real fire or not) and the location is decent but a bit isolated. It's a bit overpriced in my opinion.
They were pretty clean and i loved their scramble eggs for breakfast. Rooms are decent if you just need a place to sleep.

TaiwanWe stayed on the second floor, which had a smell of cooked chicken every time you came out of the lift. The beds are very uncomfortable. The TV is outdated. Breakfast was ok. I had to eat cereal out of a mug.Room was very warm, however a fan was left in the room.
