Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PortugalAlthough the spiral stairways are beautiful, hard to get heavy luggage up and down. Staff offer to help but they are not always at facility (although I suspect they are a minute away if I would have called.
Very well located. Very helpful staff. Very quiet even if so close to the cathedral.

AustraliaThe winding staircase to the room was a bit difficult for us being older guests, but Christina brought our luggage up to the room.
The location was very central in the old quarter. Nice room with a balcony overlooking a little garden opposite the property. The room itself was nicely furnished. Close to lots of restaurants.

United States of AmericaI was hoping for a room with a view and a balcony but Cristina was fully booked... Next time!
We arrived soaking wet about 4:30 in the afternoon after finishing our Camino and being a bit lost. My phone was so wet I lost connection so we had to stop into the tourist info office to figure out where Casa da Balconada was. Luckily the cathedral, the tourism office, and the inn are all in the same area. We were so happy to find the kind Cristina waiting for us. My husband immediately noticed the bottle of wine in the case and asked if we could purchase it. I guess not many ask about that so Cristina had to scramble for the key as we headed up to our room. We were in the aqua room you see in the photos. It's the first room at the top of the steps that looks into the inner courtyard. We loved that the window opened and we could hear the cathedral bells. The dark blind was also nice for sleeping. Just as we were getting settled in our room, we heard a knock at the door, it was Cristina with the wine, a corkscrew, and two glasses. Love that! She also brought us more towels because our bags, sneakers, and jackets were completely drenched and she helped us get the heater going. We felt so cared for which after walking for hours in the rain the past two days was really appreciated. The room is cozy-- yes tiny, and we wondered if we could manage in such a small space for 3 nights but I think it was one of our favorite stays. It was quiet, and had everything we needed like a comfy bed, hot shower, and nice towels. It was so close to the cathedral like a 2-3 min walk to the Pilgrims Mass entrance, as well as near great restaurants and shops . A great location is definitely a plus because it rained nearly the entire 3 days we were there. The umbrellas were super nice to have and Cristina kindly arranged our early morning ride to the airport for us when we departed.

United States of AmericaNeed to emphasize how small the room is. Not too much over 100 square feet. For us, we loved it and enjoyed having the doors open onto the balcony. For folks looking for a larger room, one could be surprised.
Location, Location, Location! About two blocks from the Cathedral, this was an exceptional place to stay after we completed the Portuguese route if the Camino. Exceptionally small (which we are fine with as minimalists on this trip!), the room was modern, clean, well maintained, and had a balcony looking down on the street below. Given the location, a very good price considering the cost of lodging in the area. Would stay again!

AustraliaThe spiral staircase did not have a safe hand rail and was dangerous for carrying heavy suitcases down. The room we had, had only one drop down window to allow air in. When the lock was undone the window panel dropped down without any control. It was very very heavy and could cause an injury. I think it is very dangerous and should be rectified.
Excellent location close to cathedral and restaurants

IrelandThe only thing was the noise on the street below late into the wee hours. Seemed to be a group of young folk. Because of the narrow streets, the noise travelled.
This is a beautiful boutique hotel right in the heart of Santiago de Compostela. I was given a beautiful room on the 1st floor at the front of the hotel, with 2 large windows that opened into a balcony each. A well appointment room, tastefully decorated. A very modern en-suite and nice accent lighting in the room. The Cathedral is literally beside the hotel, Amazing!!
