Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ChinaThe pools and Reception area let the hotel down. There was only three swimming pools opened and one child swimming pool. The large pool was freezing even with the warm weather. One of the smaller pools was reserved for Suite or Villa guests. So this left only one small pool which was always over crowded and you couldn't get a bed. The Reception area was always very busy and if you were already a guest in the hotel you had to queue with lot's of people to speak to someone. I feel there should be a person at the desk who deals with already checked in hotel guests, I once had to wait 40 minutes to speak with someone. I felt the pool bar/resturant menu was very limited for Western food. I would have liked to have seen a larger selection, ended up going to another hotel for lunch.
Staff were very friendly and although most of them didn't speak English they would use an APP or find someone who could. I had booked the wrong rooms and they were kind enough to move us to bigger rooms, at no extra charge. The breakfast was good, great western choices. The grounds were very clean and welcoming. The activities for Babies/children were amazing.

AustraliaThe only hiccup we had here was during the check-in process. The check-in staff member forgot to take a deposit on our room, which meant that we were unable to charge beverages to our room. On returning to the check-in counter this problem was quickly rectified (an English communication issue).
We had an amazing stay at this hotel/resort. It is a fun and exciting place to stay for everyone: families, old and young. There are many activities planned throughout the day, including entertainment. The buffet breakfasts and dinners were delicious. Swimming and relaxing by the many pools and beach were great. The staff were helpful and friendly, and it was obvious they enjoyed their work.

United StatesThe room was palatial and perfect in every aspect. There were plenty of toiletries, a very spacious bathroom and shower, an incredibly comfortable bed with bedside chargers, wonderful air conditioning, a walk-in closet with lendable sandals, and a bathtub. There was also a complimentary minibar and MGM-branded sandals you could take home. Housekeeping did an impeccable job everyday and was among the best in the world. The pool area was massive and very eye-catching. There was plenty of space to spread out and have room to yourself, and there was also beachfront access (though swimming is forbidden due to jellyfish in the area) with an associated Corona Bar that had beautiful beach views. The opportunity to dine poolside at the buffet was also very elegant and delicious, however the poolside singing during dinner was honestly painful to listen to, as the English-language songs were practically incomprehensible to native English speakers, as it's clear the singers do not have English language fluency. Unfortunately, the Wet Republic private adult pool (modeled after Las Vegas's own Wet Republic) was closed for repairs and cleaning the entire stay. Another major disappointment and source of frustration was my unmet expectation that the main pool area would have wait staff circulating the pool deck as in Las Vegas to take drink orders from guests, but this service was nonexistent. It took a great deal of effort to explain to the central pool bar that I wanted not just to order cocktails but for them to also deliver them to my seating area. The complimentary breakfast buffet at Hai Tang was incredibly diverse and filling every morning. Pin Ju Hainan Restaurant was very calm and elegant with exceptional meal presentation and service. The restaurant also offered Hainanese dishes, including the delicious coconut rice. I was incredibly happy to enjoy a bottle of Chinese wine here, which is apparently the only restaurant on site that offers local wine.
There are countless things to love about the MGM Grand Sanya, but I also have several suggestions for how to make the resort truly first-rate and up to the standards set by its namesake casino-resort in Las Vegas. I was very apprehensive about the check-in experience even before I arrived, as I received several messages weeks in advance through the Booking.com channel telling me I had to pre-pay to a Chinese account to ensure my reservation wouldn't be cancelled. I had no idea what this was asking, as I already assumed my "non-refundable" reservation was not only paid for but also already confirmed. After several back and forth messages, they realized I was a foreigner and said I could pay upon arrival. This experience and several others thereafter let me know the resort is not prepared in any way to serve an international clientele. Upon arrival, the lobby was airy and tropical but also chaotic. There were two crowded and separate desks, but neither were marked as "registration", so I was clueless as to where I should first go. I was also not approached for assistance by several workers milling about. There was a registration process for me as a foreigner, which I completely understand. However, between registration and payment, it took almost 45 minutes to complete. The hotel is clearly not prepared for foreigners who arrive with credit cards, as the staff firstly had to locate a credit card machine, and then they had to locate a second one after the first didn't function. Unbeknownst to me, I learned later that I was supposed to pre-pay a deposit if I wanted to charge dining and spa services to my room, which was not explained at check-in and later created frustrations. Additionally, the staff had practically non-existent English language skills.
