Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

CanadaAll the bedrooms have their own lockbox with a key and we couldn’t get one to work. Someone was going to finally come help but not until after 10 pm. I asked for a partial refund and was ignored. Also the kitchen is poorly equipped

United StatesAfter arriving on site on the day of check in (two families with 5 kids) after 3 pm (check in time), we were horrified to see that the previous guest was inside the house when we attempted to check in. He refused to leave and left the house dirty as well as locked every room door from the inside. The property management team either allowed the previous guest (pic attached) to stay past their checkout time and into our check in time without telling us or had no clue. This also meant that the house was not cleaned or was cleaned and then used again by the previous guest!!! I contacted the property management team twice by phone and was told they would call back but never did. I then messaged them via booking app for over 30 min and they never resolved the issue there either (said they would speak to the manager and get back in touch with me but did not). They acted as if there was nothing wrong with this situation and we should still check in. We informed them we were leaving and booked new accommodation. We asked for a full refund and they cancelled our stay and marked us as a no-show. I have taken pictures of the stranger at the house as well as the inside of the house being dirty and a video of the locked rooms. I escalated to Booking.com and they were shocked to know that this listed property has endangered the safety of families with kids and refused to resolve the issue or take any responsibility. They encouraged me to leave this review and they are escalating at their end.

United Statesapologizing and do something. She indicated she would call the provider, put me on hold and HUNG UP ON ME, never returning the call. Called back, again, explaining everything, was advised that agent was going to contact rental co and call me back within 15 minutes. OF COURSE NO RETURN CALL!!! You left us without a place to stay in Vancouver, it cost us over $2,000 in hotel rooms. SIX OF US EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN BOOKING!
Wish I could rate the property!!! YOU FAILED TO FOLLOW UP WITH WHO EVER YOU WERE TO WORK WITH FOR THE RENTAL OF THE HOME!!!! Upon arrival, we had NO information, except that which you had on the website. I had contacted you that morning and asked for information. Nothing came and no response. At 4:30 on the evening we were to arrive, the Rental company for the home advised that you never paid them, Upon contacting Booking, I was advised that my card was not accepted. BULLPUCKY! I called twice, the first girl apologized, over and over and over. Finally I asked her to quit

CanadaAlthough kitchen as pictured with lovely appliances it was poorly stocked beyond that. For a house that is meant for up to 10 guests there was not near enough dishes/glassware/cutlery for the 6 of us that were there. Also, not enough cooking utensils or pots/pans to prepare a meal which had been our plan so we ended up having to eat out or order in for every meal which added an unnecessary additional cost to our week stay. The living area is as pictured however what appears to be a chair is actually the footstool for the couch that has been laid up against the wall. So there is really only proper seating for 3. Our stay was interrupted by maintenance workers that needed access to the house with less than 10mins notice and spraying of the backyard for ants again with almost no notice. This appears to be a new STR and has the potential to be much higher rated with a few additions and better communication.
Lovely home in a quiet neighbourhood close to UBC, steps to the Pacific Spirit Forest and a few blocks to restaurants and shops on 10th. Perfect location for us. How well laid out with 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms as pictured. No air conditioning and only one small tower fan supplied. Beds comfortable - could use some extra pillows and facecloths (only a towel and hand towel provided per guest). Bathrooms clean and well stocked with hand soap, shampoo/conditioner/body wash in each shower. Curtains on each window are light filtering - not blackout. Large spacious closets with ample supply of hangers.
