Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNOTHING was disappointing.
This was so friendly. Beautiful and clean as well. Should be a 5 star! Shout out to Pauline and Justin at the front desk. Very helpful and informative, fun to talk with and lovely in every way. Wish our next 2 days was with this hotel. This will be the only place I stay in the future.

AustraliaNot a huge issue but would have preferred taking breakfast in a dining area rather than in-room
Cosy, boutique hotel, super friendly and helpful staff, quiet location, easy to find bars, restaurants and near Central Station. We really appreciated being able to check out late as we had an evening train out of Quebec.

AustraliaIn our room there was no room to have a table and 2 chair for breakfast... but the other 3 rooms had more space. Also, hotel location was not as central as expected but not too bad for a younger group.
I booked 4 rooms as we were a group of 8 traveling. All rooms were a bit different but all clean and comfortable and pretty much as per the website photos. Breakfast was included in our rate and it was delivered to the room every morning because hotel does not have a restaurant. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel was very close to the central train station and an easy access to the bus (to Montmorency Falls) but a bit far to the tourist streets of Quebec City, specially if you have an elderly person with you - I had my mum of 84 years old. But all in all, a very good stay.

United KingdomOnly complaint is that our allocated room was above the kitchen of the attached restaurant. Late evening, there was an intrusive noise from the kitchen extractor fan. Advised this would cease after 10pm, but on 2 nights, the noise continued beyond that time. As we were early to bed as still acclimatising to the time, this was a slight nuisance.
Very convenient location away from the hustle of the old town. Nice walks along the waterfront. Easy location from the railway station which was useful having seen the long line waiting for cabs. For stays of 3 days or more, the hotel is able to provide a free bus pass valid for the duration of stay. Very useful indeed. Great staff who went the extra mile when we made various requests such as finding alternative for items left at home,

United StatesThe air conditioning wasn’t working properly, but it was cool and quiet enough to open our window.
Our room was spacious and comfortable. Beds and pillows were quite comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delivered to our door each morning by 7am and consisted of a selection of pastries and yogurt or cheese. We had an ample supply of coffee and tea. I used the exercise room in the basement. Our 5-day stay was excellent.

CanadaWalls are a bit thin between rooms as we could hear our neighbours closing drawers, etc. Breakfast could get a little repetitive.

United StatesIf you are looking to be in the center of the city, this is a half mile walk up a steep hill. We did not mind it, but be aware. The WiFi was pretty weak. The "gym" was more of a small room with some weights (I did not use, but would have if more was available there).
We had originally booked our stay at Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, but realized that we wanted something a bit more economical. For a little less than half the price, we booked Hôtel des Coutellier. Friendly staff is an understatement. They were just lovely, every single one of them. The room was great. It was a bit compact, but everything we needed: A king bed (comfortable), a very nice bathroom, a fridge. For those who need, there is a TV, and a DVD player (I assume they work. We did not use them). Breakfast was coffee, OJ, and two bread items (usually, a croissant) and were yummy (Also, cheese one morning), coffee/tea/apples-always available up front. It was pretty quiet, even though near the street, but I would have liked to be on the top floor (no shoes overhead there). Also, free WiFi.

United StatesMy head really sunk into pillows which hurt my neck. Ended up having to use my travel pillow for sleep.
Enjoyed the daily breakfast basket delivered to the room with fresh croissants and other pastries! (Not packaged!) Also included items like yogurt, jam, and orange juice. Coffee downstairs every morning, with the exception of the last morning when coffee machine was broken. Also had fruit in the lobby (bananas and clementines daily). Beds were comfortable.

United StatesNothing…we loved it. I travel quite a bit and this is probably one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in!
We loved that this hotel thought of every little detail, not just the shampoos and soaps. There were things like a wine bottle opener, a nap of the city, makeup cloths, robes, an umbrella and more! We loved the bagged breakfast with the hook outside the door to return it each day. Everything was also spotlessly clean!
