Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe room fee seemed much too high for a bed sized room with no bathroom or AC. There was a restaurant/bar 2 floor below my room playing loud music until 2 am.
Location. Very close to convention I was attending, plus the neighborhood had some reasonably priced places to eat. The room was reasonably clean, and the shared bathroom facilities were very clean.

CanadaThe common area and room are clean. Located above a bar so if you've got sensitive sleep ask for a room 2xx Old, well located building in the best possible area to start exploring Vancouver. Laundromat, shower nice people at a price that is hard to find in this city. Kudos to Cambie for making Gasworks accessible to a traveler on a budget.

Australia- The price $ was a little expensive for what it provided. - The bunk beds being connected to each other & no privacy whatsoever. (Eg. Having blinds would help). - There's no room in the shower block to properly get changed or leave your clothes. - Showers next to toilets wasn't the best idea.
The location & vibe of the place. Being next to the pub gave it an overall community feel.

UkraineThe old building could use some renovation and bathrooms need some upgrades.
Great people work in the service, a lot of activities offered inside and outside of the facility. There's place to go for food or drinks downstairs. It's easy to make friends as there are many nice people visiting.

New ZealandThe room in the hostel was old, but comfortable and the location is spot on. If you want to stay in downtown close to all attractions and amenities, then this is the right choice. The hostel connects you with the city and the locations can't be beat.

GermanyOn the 2nd floor the room temperature was very warm (Travelmonth: July). There is a fan that is suppose to provide relieve. Yet that thing is loud. You need earplugs or you are just dead tired to fall asleep. There is always party going on downstairs. That is good and bad. Bad if you just want to sleep. The floor is wooden, I got a splinter in the foot, when I walked around. Well, I guess thats my fault. The Bathrooms dont leave room for privacy. The place doesn't except cash. If your credit card gets blocked or whatever you can't pay your room.
The Place (rooms, bathrooms, floor) is clean, The rooms are spacious ( I stayed in 2 different rooms) The beds are comfortable There is a big cage for your stuff to lock it up. 20 kg backpack had space in that thing. Everyday Party downstairs is great. Thats a good and a bad thing. Good if you dont need sleep and wanna party. Its a short way from the trainstation to the Hostel. That in itself is the biggest selling point for me. I just can't go and find a different place if Im jetlacked. The Kitchen is good and the space to hang out with other backpackers is comfortable.

AustraliaThe washroom facilities were very tight and small, and awkward to use. Little that can be done about it, and not the end of the world, but would expect a little better for the price. Without any air-conditioning I can imagine it could get very hot, I was warm though the fan was appreciated but needed the window open which contributed to the noise of the karaoke and other music pretty late.
On the whole the staff were helpful and accommodating. The location was very handy as was the bar

CanadaIs loud at night as it’s right above the bar/nightclub. For the cheap accommodation it’s not a huge deal, just bring ear plugs and some melatonin for a good sleep. Showers need more space to be able to change before and after your shower.
Right in the heart of gastown, easy to get to many places. Was just a couple blocks from the concert I was there for. Nice kitchen/lounge area to chill when people in your room are sleeping.
