Bog standard hostel - definitely wanting to be a cool party place more than a cheap & cheerful place to stay

The front desk staff were rude and not friendly, very uninviting place to walk into. And then the overnight staff just would yell at you as soon as you walked in where are your keys. I spent a week there and not once did I get a hello from any staff member. Customer services sucks big time here nobody seems to want to be working there or care about making guests feel welcome.

Facilities are extremely old, the design is horrible doesn’t allow for privacy in the washrooms, the space is so tight using the shower is almost impossible. Bedrooms do not have proper ventilation. From bedrooms to washrooms could use massive remodeling otherwise it’s just a place to crash real quick and bounce.

bathrooms are dirty, someone was puking while i was taking a shower. the way the showers are designed was weird, also there are not enough showers and toilets for the amount of guests in the hostel

Extremely loud, near impossible to sleep before 2AM and no ear plugs provided. You have to rent towels and the washrooms are a bit awkward and cramped. Not all beds have power outlets so make sure your phone is charged before you head to bed.

Great Location and walking distance to the waterfront and good restaurants/bars. The common area was super comfortable and relatively social. Bar Downstairs is fun and excellent value for money. The beds are surprisingly comfortable too.

BEWARE- late night noise most days and until 3am Fridays. No problem, but if you are not there to party and want early nights bring ear defenders not just ear plugs, it is that loud!!!

Unfortunately the hostel building is one of the abandoned heritage property without any maintenance. The toilet blocks are awful and disgusting. Don't mention it the kitchen!

Very nice part of the city but the neigborhood is full with homeless drug addict people. The staff is friendly and extremly helpful. The groundflour bar is very good vibe place evrery day with very nice staff and mostly friendly guests.

When u enter how tight the main entrance was & there is alot of wear & tear that needs to be touched up . I was shocked when ur getting booked in ur told no alcohol,smoking or drugs or sex but ur booked into a room with the opposite sex. That was surprisingly disturbing the alcohol smoking drugs I completely understand. But if no sex the opposite sex shouldn't be sharing accommodations. That's a risk of sexual assault.

At times the toilets were a mess but that’s because it was a big night for people within the hostel. The rooms could use air conditioning instead of the heater that we couldn’t figure out how to turn off. The rooms were so hot at night, we had to keep the windows open and with that is the noise of the street outside. Location is great however the bar underneath was loud.

It was in a location near a lot of the landmarks and public transport, fairly clean, great staff. Great location if you are in town to party and socialise.

On your arrival, you should have the option of choosing if you want a quiet room or noisy room. There is a bar just under the rooms and it was difficult to sleep (vibration & noise). I was directly assigned to the noisy room. The curtains in the room were useless (the upper window was not covered at all), and the sunlight came into the bedroom at 5/6 am. I was not able to have a good night between the noise and the light. The washroom on the first floor was so tiny that you needed to put all your clothes or stuff on the toilet doors. There was no space between the shower and the toilet.

The location was good, and all the staff members were nice. Oreo, the cat, was approachable. The kitchen was big and well furnished and they had good seats in the common areas.

Washroom facilities are cramped, clunky, and a bit worn. Showering tended to be a drag as it's like being in a phone booth. Yep, most evenings it's pretty loud due to the bar/restaurant which I did not visit but noticed it's very popular...I knew that ahead of time by reading reviews so opted to go out to avoid it. If you are looking to sleep early and in a quiet setting to get up early for a hike or whatnot, this place is not for you. I always travel with earplugs.

Staff was great - helpful at checking in and accommodating me and my needs as I use a CPAP for my sleep apnea. I enjoyed the clean and comfortable kitchen and meeting friendly travelers. Hostel is located in a good location, easily accessible to bars, restaurants, public transportation and other points of interest. I mostly walked everywhere, which was fantastic. Pretty good value for the price.

Yeah I thought that I was tougher than everyone else on here talking about the noise - I wasn’t 😂 first night had bass going through my skull until 2am. If you plan on going out though (as I did the second night), then it’s no biggie and the hostel is fine

Great location and friendly staff. We realise it's a heritage building, so it does appear to be an aged building. Can appreciate it but some people might not.

Bar below was noisy (music/bar noise) so it was difficult to unwind and fall asleep. I was on the floor with the resident cat and found the hallway smelled like stinky cat litter. Showers take 5 mins to get hot. Shower stalls are tiny.
