Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWiFi was pretty poor, compared to other Banff hotels we've used. Room was pretty dark even with lights all on and windows and doors open.
The room is self sufficient with a fire for winter ( makes it a bit smelly of soot in summer as a warning, but still a great feature ) Lots of wildlife around, elk, squirrels, deer, birds. Right by bus stop into 5he centre to avoid taking the car in, though these got very busy

AustraliaGreat place to stay if you have a studio room.
Initially went to our cabin up towards the back of the hotel... was way too small to spend 5 days in. Went back to Reception to try and get one of the studio rooms at the front of the hotel. They managed to get us into one which we were very grateful for. Definitely book a studio if you are going to stay at this property . Clean spacious with everything you will need

United KingdomOur Checkout was not straight forward, as we were going on the Rocky Mountaineer Rail, we tried to check the bill the previous night to save time and to pay it, and we were not having breakfast or an evening meal at hotel, knowing we were going to picked up Rocky Mountaineer Rail shuttle at 7.00am, We didn’t want to be late for our departure, our bill that next morning do not make any sense whatsoever and I asked to have it checked , then time was moving and we had to leave with the bill unsettled, I ensured I would pay them and eventually we were allowed to leave creating stress on us leaving that morning, and worrying it hadn’t been paid or resolved, not my doing, in the end the bill had been corrected and payment has been put in place to clear the account.

CanadaIts not walking to downtown Banff. Parking is sometimes an issue. Breakfast was not included.
Staff is really friendly, helpful and fast. The room did not include a fridge and a microwave. But the staff was helpful enough to quickly provide with that. Location is fair. 8 mins drive to Banff town.

United StatesBathroom outlet in unit 103 was touchy and need to update desk & nightstand lamps so bases offer easy access to additional charging & electrical outlets.
Loved the quiet away from craziness of Banff Village. The elk strolling thru the property was a bonus! Liked convenience of onsite Prow restaurant plus food & staff were great!

AustraliaThe log fire in the room meant that there was a heavy residue of smoke odour throughout the room, being quite oppressive. It was strong enough to require the window open all the time, despite the fact we did not light the fire at all. Perhaps a better ventilation system should be explored for these rooms.
The location is superb. The room offered a massive bathroom with a huge walk in shower and free standing bath. The bedroom itself was big enough for 2 queen-size beds, which were very comfortable. There was an open log fireplace in the room along with the usual, coffee machine, fridge, safe etc. The restaurant offered great food and wine. Staff were excellent, knowledgeable and friendly.

United StatesWait staff at The Prow was ok… they seemed to disappear quite a bit, even at lunch when there was barely anyone at the restaurant.
The Prow was lovely/cozy, we had plenty of space and having a little kitchen in our room was very helpful.

United StatesThe staff was extremely friendly. There was a mix up with one of our rooms and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. We ate at the onsite restaurant for breakfast and dinner and both were excellent. If it was "in town" I think more would eat there. It is expensive, but everywhere in that area for this time of year is. It is a pleasant, easy walk to town. I would recommend a stay at Buffalo Mountain Lodge.

CanadaLocation is amazing. Close to Banff without being right in town with a lot of tourists and traffic. Feels like being in a private cabin in the woods. We saw an elk and her baby walking through the parking lot very early one morning. Also a white tail deer came right up to our window. Property is kindly dog friendly. Our dog had a great time. Amazing outdoor hot tub that was never busy. So we had opportunities to have tub to ourselves or maybe 2 other people. Never over crowded. The on site restaurant is called the Prow and their food was outstanding. Highly highly recommend the Beef Tenderloin, the apple pie , and pancakes with orange cream for breakfast.

United KingdomThe room felt a bit cramped with the 2 double beds - but for a family or 2 friends it would have worked well. The lighting was also quite dim - would have done with a better positioned light on one half of the room
Fire in the room - very rustic cabin vibes. Hot tub and gym was a good addition

United KingdomNo dislikes, we loved it here. The rooms are a little dated, more so the shower room. But this didn't cause us any problems at all.
We loved the Buffalo Mountain Lodge. It's about a 1mile walk from the main town (up and hill) but would still recommend as it's lovely being out of the township. The staff were great, the beds were really comfortable, log burner and lovely balcony. Gym facility was fine and they had seperate shower/changing rooms we used after checking out; these were both clean and spacious.
