Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ArgentinaThere’s only one thing that is not up to the rest of the hotel: the wifi. It disconnects permanently and you have to go through the process all the time. Really not ideal for a hotel of this category

BrazilI register the embarrassment caused by the window cleaning service carried out by climbers without any prior notice. At the time the professionals started work, we were in the room and without clothes, believing that we had guaranteed privacy. The window was only with the curtain closed, since the blackout, standard for night use to avoid outside light, was not in use because it was morning. This lack of communication and preparation generated extreme discomfort, something unacceptable in an establishment of this size. An embarrassment that I have not passed in any national or international hotel in places with the 5-star category. In addition, the shower in the room had problems, not working properly during our stay. I did not communicate immediately because I did not want to be bothered with maintenance service during the short stay.
Very good location and assistance.

BelgiumFrom staff to the view, this hotel is perfectly located in Barra da Tijuca area. You enjoy the beach just crossing the street, have one of the best breakfast I’ve ever had in Brazil (variety, quality and typical food), many convenient services like touristic tours, swimming pool, and a super comfortable room.

United StatesWe had trouble with a language barrier. Some of the people spoke very situationally driven English. They could speak well enough to check you into the hotel, but they couldn't answer questions. We had a situation happen with using their laundry service. We didn't know what they wanted and they couldn't explain it to us. They did try and their English was much better than my Portuguese.
The breakfast was fantastic. It was a buffet, but they also provided cooked to order items. The hotel was across the street from the beach. The nearby restaurants were great. The room was nice.

GermanyFor this price they should at least provide one bottle of mineral water each day. Also, there should a box of tissues in the room and a kettle with some hot drinks such as tea or coffee.
The cleaning level in the hotel is excellent and the staff members are friendly. The location in front of the beach is perfect with a great view.

AustriaNo big issues, overall a dated five star hotel from the mid 1990's. No shoe polish, no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Room facilities are dated (there's only one shower head (not moveable and fixed to the wall ) in the bathroom, old telephone, old furniture, not enough power sockets for two guests). To charge the laptop, a transformer was needed, which was not available at reception. Its far from tourist attractions (about 50 mins by car from Copacabana with light traffic), but Uber was cheap, safe and easily available.
Located right opposite the beach, the hotel is only separated by a busy road from the white sands. I was on a very high floor with a side sea view, the noise from outside could only be heard when the window was open, so excellent insulation, also no noise from neighbouring rooms. The room was big, very clean. Bed and pillows were comfortable. The electricity plugs worked with European mobile phone and toothbrush charger. Wifi was decent. Wonderful views from the room and the 17th floor rooftop. with pool. Bar on the rooftop had selection of average light food and drinks with decent prices and open until midnight. Breakfast room had large choice of everything, was tasty with many local fruits and vegetables. Excellent Brazilian steak restaurant next to the hotel. Safe area, easy to walk around. Pharmacy next door sold mineral water.

AustraliaThe room hadn't have basic equipment like electric kettle or complementary tea or coffee (probably not that common in Brazil as we didn't receive them in other hotels as well)
Breakfast was great but the same thing without any change for 7 days that we stayed. Location was great, one of the cleanest and safest beaches of Rio; If you are interested in the clubbing or night life or busy beach vibe, probably not your best option but as a family with two kids, we definitely enjoyed the location more than Copacabana (we stayed there as well)
