Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

AustriaAfter Houskeeping a bag with my personal belongings was gone! Asked the owner and receptionist multiple times to ask housekeeping for it, since maybe it was taken mistakenly. Nobody got back to me or even apologized!! All my souvenirs I bought and my earphones are gone!

South AfricaExpectation! The marketing/offer in terms of rating was way off 4* at a high rating? I'm not sure if booking.com was scammed or me? Perhaps both of us. Please remove this property! TERRIBLE! And they know it. I'm not the 1st to be scammed!

SlovakiaI booked the hotel #SENSACIONAL# PREMIUM HOTEL Manaus AM, which was supposed to be a five-star hotel according to the booking.com description. However, the address contained the BLUE TREE PREMIUM MANAUS hotel, which does not correspond to even a two-star hotel: dirty carpet in the rooms, dirty walls, mold... At the hotel, after assigning a room, we found out that the bed linen had not been changed after the last guests, when we complained at the reception, they told us that the given room has been bought or rented by another company and therefore it is necessary to communicate complaints through the person from whom we ordered the stay. The complaint via booking.com was processed only the next day. I do not recommend ordering to anyone, because it takes a long time for any complaint, request, or request.
I only liked the fact that the hotel is located at the given address.

United StatesI arrived at 1:00 pm, and had to wait 90 minutes for authorization to enter the room. I found cleaning materials (broom, mop, liquid cleaners) in the bathroom, not good. The hallway carpet needs replacing, looking old. I didn't like the bright white LED lighting in the bedroom.
Nice bed, good strong shower, clean bathroom. Convenient parking.
