Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSmoking: next to the lift at the bottom of the stairwell is the "smoking lounge", which is a room where people can smoke indoors; it also holds the vending machine for snacks; the door to this room is always open and the ash trays were never emptied whenever I walked past; there's even an ash-tray next to the lift itself! The smell of stale cigarette smoke was all through the stairwell and through the (always open) doors into the first floor corridor with the rooms; whilst the room was officially no-smoking, there was a total of three ash trays on the patio (one on the table, one mounted on the concrete balustrade and one free-standing) all full of cigarette stumps. Whether it was because smokers carry the smell back into the room with them, or because the Smoking Lounge contaminated the air that circulated through the building, there was always a stench of stale cigarette smoke. WiFi: even though there was a router diagonally opposite my room door, the signal strength was minimum on all my devices and the connection broke off every 5 to 10 minutes; then, after logging back onto the WiFi, my devices would say "not connected to the internet", so working in the evenings in the room with my company VPN was only possible by hotspotting off my UK mobile phone, which incurred considerable charges Wardrobe: I was there for four days, and the wardrobe had three clothes-hangers; not enough to put up a week's worth of trousers and shirts Iron & Board: none in the room; I always take a travel iron, so I did not ask whether they could supply one Tea & Coffee: the in-room info claims that there should be a kettle with tea and coffee, but there was none Furnishings: the room was tired; functional, but lots of wear and tear, for example there were no boards for the corner shelf, just empty brackets (limiting storage space even further)
Breakfast: excellent continental style buffet with a chef on hand to cook scrambled eggs etc fresh to order Restaurant: very convenient and fast (all you can eat buffet) for a business traveller in a hurry Town: a brisk 15m walk gets you into Modling town centre where there's more restaurants, pharmacy, post office, supermarkets Bathroom: great shower with excellent water pressure; toilet separate from bathroom which is always a bonus for those travelling with a partner

SlovakiaMirror lights cannot be switched off, kind of defeated the whole purpose of having blinds to darken the room. the same issue from AC - the temperature light lit up the whole room at night. Shower drain smelled horrible, like a pee that was not cleaned for a while. The towels were old, stained, with holes, one bath mat barely held together. There was a used beer bottle in the cabinet from previous guests - unacceptable. We had a toddler so how can I trust they wouldn't find other dangerous items. Hand soap ran out on the first night, then we found out that hand soap was mistakenly placed as shower gel and vice versa. No tissues in the room. No option to switch off the sensor light in the toilet area - will blind you if you go to bathroom in the middle of the night. No front desk in the morning during check out.
AC worked fine, black out curtains/blinds were useful, bed clean and comfy. Smart tv was great.

FranceThere are a lot of small LEDs that we can't turn off at night, and that are quite bright. The layout of the room is a bit wierd, with a not fully separated bathroom. Very far from the city center
Nice big rooms, with private bathrooms. There was a kettle (no tea, though). The bed is very comfortable.

CroatiaThe staff doesn't speak English, or speaks very little, and my German isn't good either. But we managed to communicate :D
The room was a bit outdated but it was clean and the beds and pillows were good. The breakfast had everything you need to have for breakfast. Also, we arrived late, after the checkout hours, but we contacted the hotel earlier and they left us a key in the key safe (I don't know the name of that) and they sent us a passkey in the messages. Overall I had a positive experience.

AustriaWhen we got to breakfast, there were no tables that were cleared; we had to move some dishes. The bread rolls and water were also gone. When we told the staff, they baked new ones and filled up the things, but I think this should be something to handle proactively.
Location is good if you want to visit Vösendorf Pyramid. Air conditioning in room is very nice. Bed was also good. Check in and out was uncomplicated. The associated Asian restaurant on the ground floor is very delicious although expensive.
