Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IsraelThe only thing I would say, there was no air conditioning. In the evening there was nice weather, but if there were a heat wave, it could be hot and uncomfortable. Another small thing, in our room, there was no coffee machine or kettle for tea, and there was no mini bar. This is a small suggestion to make it even more pleasant. And again I recommend this hotel, we will definitely go back there, but maybe a different kind of room.
Almost Everything! The stay was amazing, the staff super professional and friendly. The location is perfect, the hotel area is amazing.the breakfast was delicious., we will definitely go back there. The facilities offer many extras for the guests, free bicycle rent, and many more.

AustraliaOur one night stay was wonderful! We stayed in the building next to the castle. Our room was comfortable and the staff were helpful. We loved exploring the castle gallery and the surroundings. The views of the lake and mountains and the gardens are just beautiful and the links to the Sound of Music surreal. Breakfast in the ballroom was just amazing.

United KingdomThe accommodation is in a building next door. It’s perfectly fine - clean and comfortable - but is a little dated and worn. I personally would have been happy to pay slightly more for a smarter room that was more in keeping with the stunning surprise of the breakfast room. Rooms have no air conditioning and don’t have mosquito screens - and both options should really be considered when it’s next renovated
The Schloss itself where you have breakfast is totally stunning -plus the wonderful location on the lake

AustraliaFabulous location just on outskirts of Salzburg with commanding views across the lake. The hotel was reasonably comfortable in a building adjacent to the Palace alongside the lake where nearby we dined at a local restaurant. Breakfast which was absolutely fantastic was served inside the Palace and we were able to view the magnificent library as well.

United KingdomThere was nothing I did not like! I wished I could have stayed longer! If I had to find a fault, maybe the temperature. Mornings and evenings were quite chilly for June, but the days were bright and a part an occasional shower, sunny! So my advice is to always have a jacket or a jumper at hand! But Salzburg is surrounded by mountains so you are bound to have fresh air!
For those of you who are familiar with The Sound of Music, this is the original location where the boating accident of Julie Andrews and the children took place. In the film the boat overturns and they all end up in the water of the lake. The castle and the grounds are marvellous! It is difficult to put in words the magnificence of the location, the lake, the castle, the flowers and the fauna! Our bedroom was not in the main castle but in the adjacent property and it was big and very comfortable. We had a view over the Salzburg Fortress, beautiful! The bathroom was big, spacious and with a big window that we could open for fresh air. The castle had no restaurant so for dinner we went to nearby restaurants suggested by the staff or you could go into town. Breakfast was the only meal served at the castle and it was sumptuous and scrumptious! We were seated in the Venetian Room, a beautiful, awesome room painted and decorated in Venetian style. Again, impossible to describe the marvel of this place! There are a lot of walks you can do around the area, in the park itself, outside the castle and around the whole perimeter of the lake or go into town. From the castle the walk takes more or less 30 minutes to reach old town Salzburg, and the walk on pedestrian and cycle path was wonderful. We walked among trees and flowers and then little paths with canals and houses, picturesque. And always overlooked by the fortress. Cyclists are very polite in Salzburg, they announce their arrival and they always, always thank you for getting out of their way, if you, like me, sometimes forget you are on a cycle path.

IndiaPeaceful surroundings, friendly and helpful staff, rooms were extremely well done. Staying at this hotel, getting to know its rich history, and spending time so close to nature was a delightful experience. This hotel is also the office of the Salzburg Global Seminar, and I’m a Salzburg Global Fellow, couldn’t have hoped for a better place to stay and work out of!

United KingdomThe price. It was expensive for a room with no view in an attic space located in the very back of building. It was far enough away from our parked vehicle that we left most everything in the car and brought up the bare essentials.
The setting was beautiful and having access to the Palace and gardens was a special treat. The bed was super comfy and we slept very well. We were on the top floor (garret room), so didn't have any views but as the weather was good and we were outside anyway. The breakfast was unbelievably fantastic. The buffet had everything you can imagine, you will def not go hungry. The hotels location is very convenient to get right into the heart of Salzburg. Dinner is not offered on site, but there are nearby restaurants within short walking distance that were recommended. Parking was safe/good. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomThe standard suit I booked was very disappointing. The room shape and box like bathroom randomly in the middle of the room was not good. There was dirty laundry left in three trolleys in the corridor for the whole three days of my stay.
Location is outstanding. A dream.
