This is a continuation of my review of Holidays Cefalu B&B. “Holidays Cefalu is an outstanding property with excellent, caring owners and staff.” The family and staff are the nicest, most accommodating, helpful and generous people we met during our time in Italy and Sicily. Holidays Cefalu is family owned and operated. The dad, Gioacchino aka Jack, welcomed us for both of our stays. He is a very charming gentleman. His daughter, Francesca, is a lovely young lady with a beautiful warm smile. Francesca helped us in so many ways. This included the train schedule, best places to go shopping and suggestions on restaurants/cafes. Note: for the best authentic Sicilian ariancini go to Gallizza Rosticceria, a quick 5-minute walk from the B&B. It was the best! A delicious breakfast of breads, salami, cheese, fruit, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt and melt-in-your-mouth warm croissants along with freshly, made-to-order coffee is served every day on a comfortable, covered outdoor garden patio area. Our last morning of our second stay was an early one for us. We had to catch the early train to Palermo. Gioacchino and their morning staff, one lovely woman (I’m so sorry I do not know her name.) came in early so we could have breakfast before our travels. The B&B is near everything… the railway station, an excellent big and clean supermarket, Gourmet Deco Cefalu, the beach, the promenade and historical centre. You can easily and safely walk everywhere in Cefalu and we did! They went to extra mile for us. I’m sure they do for all their guests. Holidays Cefalu is a great place to stay, in a perfect location with fantastic views and most importantly, helpful and friendly owners and staff. Grazie mille! We can’t wait to stay at Holidays Cefalu again!
We love Palermo, beautiful old city, wonderful food, not easy to get around other areas in Sicily, we had trouble in Syracuse and noto, no one would help us
Cefalu was our last stopover and we were hesitating to stay over in a city after our experiences in Palermo and Milazzo (which unfortunately left us with little to desire). But Cefalu was a very pleasant surprise; as we walked from our hotel to the main city centre; rippling blue sea greeted us and the first and only sandy beach we visited in Sicily; it had a lovely vibe beautiful people and great sand and amazing surf! The main town was spectacular to walk around; mouthwatering restaurants lined everywhere with great views of the Med.
Loved Palermo, our gateway to Sicily. Crowded, noisy, a bit scary at first around our fabulous apartment next to the Ballaro Market but once we got our bearings nothing was scary and all the people were so helpful and friendly. We went up to Monreale to see the cathedral....fabulous excursion by local bus. We listened to a very talented violinist busking in the rain under the Porto Nuovo. We spent a few idle hours 'people watching' from our balcony, as in the street below kids came and went from school, customers bought eggs from a tiny shop in an old guy's front window andmotorbikes/cars/cyclists vied for space with pedestrians in the narrow cobbled streets. There is an excellent restaurant called 'molti Volti' just next to our apartment and the Ballaro which features photographs and artwork of those 'many faces' and is linked with helping immigrants integrate to the city.
Lots to see & do, easy to walk round, lots of great places to eat or while away an hour or two on the pavement. Good prices. Easy 20 minute trip on Alibus from airport to centre. Good hub for getting elsewhere in Sicily. Accommodation staff welcoming & helpful.
It's the people that really make Palermo, passionate, friendly and very loud ! One must see destination .....the Capello Palatino .....and of course it's bigger brother t in Monreale. Street markets are fun .... but we felt a couple of days sacr !ificing before moving on to the rest of Sicily. And don't even think of driving in the city
An interesting city with a Parisian feel, although lacking the antiquity of other places in Sicily, a couple of earthquakes have seen to that, well worth a visit.
Pozzallo is a beach town on the south coast of Sicily. Many People come to Pozzallo because the beach is endless and there are many Restaurants in the area. Pozzallo is also known as the port from where travellers can take a catameran to Malta the rocky Island Republic where almost everybody speaks english
Palermo is a city with great potential. Amazing history and heritage, fantastic food. Walking around The city centre makes you dive into the variety of cultures that have been shaped Sicily for centuries.
Great choice of restaurants and bars. Great shops. Quite an experience and atmosphere and great views once you are up there. Catching the bus from Giardini Naxos sometimes one or two “full” buses would pass-by at peak times. But a taxi from the station is only 15 euros. It’s long and steep and hard going if you attempt to walk up Taormina. I think I saw it described on one of the reviews as scenic. Maybe we went the wrong way but it seemed to be along windy and busy roads with no pavements. We tried it once but wouldn’t do it again (bear in mind we are young-ish and fit and like walking!!) We didn’t hire a car and didn’t miss it. I imagine driving up into Taormina, navigating around the winding narrow roads, and finding parking would be quite a nightmare. There’s also a cable car on the other side of the mountain. Recommend Etna tour and winery visit. Booked through Sicily Life. We had a lovely lunch in RossoPeperoncino and also we recommend porta Messina pizzeria.
Pozzallo
It was the best time in Sicily, apartment is very clean and comfortable with amazing pool and terasse. It was directly at the pool. Apartment is located few steps from the see with sandly beach. The owner of the villa is very helpfull and friendly. Location of the apartment is at the walking distanse to Pozzallo center. Pozzallo is a very nice and compact city with a lot of restaurants. If you would like to visit Modica, Ragusa, Noto, Marzamemi is the best location to stay in Pozzallo in the Villa le Mimose.
The whole experience was excellent. Pool area is wonderful & full off tranquility. Hotel was very well run & clean. Extreme eye to detail. Food was the best we've had & don't get me started on that cheesecake.... Out of this world. Our waiter - forgot his name but he went above and beyond explaining & recommending, it was a joy to have - thank you! The hidden gem off Sicily & we will be back. Thanks for having us & making us feel welcome. Kind regards, Nina & Ryan
Palermo
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Atmosphere Puniche. This was our 25th trip to Europe, 7th time to Italy and first visit to Sicily. A.P. cannot be topped by anywhere else we have stayed. The location, design, and most of all the grace & warmth of Marika are exceptional. Her breakfasts are creative and delicious. The carroles and granita are hard to beat. I do design work and travel planning and I highly recommend staying here. A.P. exceeds all expectations. Thank you Marika!
Castellammare del Golfo
Apartment is in perfect condition, super spacious, super clean and has everything you need including private parking and street parking. The location is perfect for exploring northwest of Sicily and the beautiful "must see" beaches in the area. If you have a car, it takes cc 50-60 minutes to reach Palermo. Several supermarkets, Castellammare historical center and port are close to the apartment. Davide is a great host, and he was always available for all our questions.
Campofelice di Roccella
Umberto personally met us at the apartment and went though all places to go to eat etc plus showed us around the apartment really lovely place and pool was great very quiet if you want some peace and relax Beach is a two min walk with a lovely bar sun-beds are very cheap 5 euro a day 😉 At Apartment very safe and secure with locked gates easy parking too as we had a car for a week. Will go back 1000% thanks 🙏 Sicily Is Wonderful Place And People Are So Lovely ☺️
Milazzo
I came to Milazzo on a whim needing a treat and pick me up. Upper-boutique Hotel was just that. The property is excellently managed. The furnishings are stylish, handsome and comfortable. Great Linens. Breakfast had more choices than I have seen in Sicily. But best our host Gloria. She is on top of everything. I made a mistake about my train arrival and she caught it and called back. Great value and really a top notch treat.
Punta Milocca, Siracusa
We spent a month traveling around Italy and 12 of those days were in Sicily - my kids (aged 7,8 and 9) wished we had just stayed the whole month at Villa Bismarkia. We loved the pool and gardens and hosts. Roberto and Erik (his son) were so hospitable. They were always making sure we had everything we wanted/ needed. Went above and beyond making our stay comfortable and giving lots of good recommendations.
Marsala
This was the best place that we stayed on our 10 days trip to Sicily! Absolutely gorgeous apartment, would love to live there😂❤Really helpful owner, let us check in earlier, always asked if everything is ok! Apartment location is perfect, everything is just on the corner! Very clean and cozy. Long story short, we felt like home and thats the best thing. Would recommend everyone to stay here if in Marsala!❤
Cefalù
Wonderful, modern accommodation in the heart of the Cefalu historic area. Very easy access to the beach, La Rocca, restaurants, shops. Nico was very helpful and met us as we arrived to show us where to park (secure parking outside the historic area which had limited car access). Cefalu was our favorite stop in our 8 stop/17 day tour of Sicily, and the Mori Apartment was our favorite accommodation.
Giardini Naxos
It was a perfect one week holiday at Naxos Holiday Apartment. The owner helped us a lot, he is so friendly. The apartment location is perfect for a family holiday in Sicily. The seashore is very close, good restaurants, supermarket, and bus stop in some minutes walk. The apartment is comfortable, clean and equipped with traditional furniture which is great addition to the Sicily experience.
Marsala
Hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the historic district. Beautiful modern room with a very nice breakfast. Staff was very helpful addressing our concerns. I would certainly recommend this hotel. Location is great. We drove all around Sicily and they were able to direct us to street parking which was free, close to the hotel and safe. Very helpful with recommendations and directions.
Fantastic location and super helpful staff. Everyone was brilliant from the front desk, breakfast and cleaners. Breakfast sat overlooking the harbour was fantastic, loads to choose from complete with homemade cakes. If we are ever back this way this would be the only place we would stay. Thank you everyone at the Hotel Cala Marina for making our first stay in Sicily a fantastic trip!
Great Period Hotel in excellent City Location. Staff were always helpful and ready to assist us. Only blemish, is the size of the shower (very small) but this is common in Sicily. However Sicily is now the new “Go to Destination” in Europe, if not on the planet, so larger showers would be a wonderful and welcome addition for future visitors from all over the world.
Marina di Ragusa
Apartment was extremely clean and comfy. Giuseppe who participated during check in was most gentle guy I've ever met in whole Sicily 😍 even despite of the fact I speak very basic Italian, I was treated with great respect and was no issue with my communication with property. I loved super long balkony connected with terrace. One of my best stays ever !
Hotel situated in a very quiet area, little bit remote. Very large room, basic but clean. Bathroom needs a little work but it works over all. Large parking lot, no worries you won't find space. Breakfast good enough, you have what to choose from and, from our experience in Sicily, better than in other hotels. Over all, very good quality for money.
We loved this property which is just through the gate at the beginning of the old town - an excellent location! Wonderful hosts, delightful roof top bar and an excellent choice for breakfast. This was one of the great properties we stayed at as we drove around Sicily. We highly recommend the Hotel Porto Reale for anyone contemplating a stay in Noto.
very good location, close to walk to beach and in the town centre, but quiet location. Our room overlooked the lovely courtyard restaurant; good pizza there! The room was spacious and comfy and stylish. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty, and the staff there were very helpful. Hotel Sicilya helped with taxi transfers; thank you!
Balestrate
Apartment is fully equipped. Marnie is the best host always responsive and helpful. Place is really nice located near to the Main Street but in quiet place. You have everything to live like at home :) Rocky beach is located 5-7 min from flat. Sandy beach is half hour walk. While is so so hot in Sicily it’s better to go by car 😉
From our room we just hat 10m to access the sea at the hotels sand beach. After swimming we relaxed in our private Hot Tab also facing the sea. Champagne and good mood welcome! The Hotel's restaurant on top of the small building serves good local food. Just a perfect place for couples and families to enjoy sunny Sicily!
Trapani
Nice location near the port, two nice restaurants across the street. Hotel had an elevator for our bags. Breakfast was very good, and parking across the street on the street was cheap and easy. We used the app EasyPark throughout Sicily. Recommend it. Take a trip to Scopello for a breathtaking beach.
