Barnard Castle
Great little hotel just a short walk from town centre and centrally located for touring Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines. Very clean, friendly staff and good food.
We greatly enjoyed the ambience and the dining experience.
Gorgeous hotel. Wonderful staff. Fabulous dinner and huge breakfast. At first I was a bit disappointed that I wasn’t staying inside the castle (this was clearly pointed out at the time of booking, I just missed it). However my room on the grounds was fantastic and after having drinks, dinner and breakfast in the castle, as well as taking the 10.15am castle tour (highly recommended), I really felt like I’d had the full Langley Castle experience. I only stayed one night on my way through the area but I can’t wait to return. Don’t hesitate to book this place, it’s a gem.
Fantastic room with rustic style wooden furniture that gave it a charm in keeping with the age of the Inn.
This was our third time staying here. We just love the relaxing atmosphere, the excellent food in the restaurant. The staff are always very friendly and provide a great service. We always go on Valentines weekend and it is never too busy, it can actually feel very exclusive in this regard. The fantastic spa completes the experience
The staff were lovely. Vicky and Holly were particularly great. Vicky even went out to buy my mum special tea after her long shift. Breakfast was great. The pool was lovely…. Great that there was a kid free session. Loved the fact that people could bring there’re dogs along.
Very friendly people there, willing to help with any problems that might arise. Lovely church in town. The library in the house is well-stocked! Very good place to stay.
Very good breakfast, friendly staff, excellent location
Charming castle stay with buckets of character. Kids thought it was very magical. Well catered for, friendly staff. Self contained apartment “little castle” was very well appointed.
very friendly staff. very good meal
This is a challenge to answer. The Scotch Arms is a lovely 1600s building(s) that was incredibly well restored. (My partner is an architect, and he said the owners spared no expense in the restoration.) It was a delight to be in such a beautiful treasure of a B&B. The question is difficult to answer because complimenting the wonderful physical establishment is, Dianne, the warm, friendly and knowledgeable owner/host. She gives everyone a warm welcome. On this trip we are staying at 7 hotels/B&Bs, and the Scotch Arms stays in our minds as one of the best on this 20 day trip.
Great location for a nearby wedding, really friendly staff and a homely, lovely room.
It was amazing To actually stay in a castle with so much history .......WOW
Excellent room, staff and location. And a Drying Room for walker’s soggy jackets, boots etc! Very clean, modern and convenient room within the old world Twice Brewed building. Great stay. A Drying Room!!!
