Firstly, not a hotel. This place is an old 3 story house, but don’t let that turn you away. The house is excellent. The breakfast is soooo tasty. Tasty fresh eggs, and great full English breakfast. Best we have had so far on our tour of England. The rooms are cozy, the king bed was the most comfortable bed we have had so far. The shower had good pressure, and was steaming hot. The towels are large, thick and fluffy. Only a 12 minute walk to the city walls, it was great to get our ‘’steps’’ in. 🙂. The owner/manager was very accomodating and friendly. We parked on-site. A bit of a squeeze, but no complaints. The room we had was a king supreme room on the top floor. It was super quiet, and we had the best sleep so far on our road trip.

The staff were exceptional: always kind and ready to help. The food excellent!

We had dinner in the hotel, it was delicious and good value for money.

Very quaint place and staff was super friendly. Food in the restaurant was delicious for both breakfast and dinner. Location near Hadrian's wall was the reason we stayed here and it was well worth it.

Fully refurbished during 2008 and early 2009, all of the rooms have high-quality beds and en suite shower rooms. We were most concerned that the dog could fit in to the hotel environment while allowing us to relax. The staff were fantastic with him as soon as we arrived, put us at ease and enabled us to enjoy a fantastic meal (real ale a plus). The room had a door directly into the garden which meant that the dog could be let out as required. We will very likely stay here again if we pass this way. The town of Appleby also has nice walks along the river so we had a pleasant evening walk to finish.
