On arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to be told that we had been given a room upgrade and what a lovely room it was, more like a suite, with a separate seating area with its own TV in addition to the one in the bedroom area. Breakfasts were excellent, as were lunch and dinner over the two night stay. Staff were all lovely and very obliging. The Hotel has an amazing location - perfect for the Lake District and the view of Killington resavoir is beautiful. The service station is great next door too. The staff are really friendly and the bedding is very clean. The hotel itself needs a redec - the communal corridors are poor, mouldy ceilings and dirty carpet. The room needed updating - scruffy and marked furniture, bathroom smells damp and had mould on ceiling. It is a shame as it makes the stay not very comfortable but the location and view make up for it and I would stay again.
The staff and owners all consistently went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, as well as to help with directions and/or recommendations for walks and restaurants in the Lake District. The breakfast was delicious and healthy, with a variety of choices, and we received very pleasant service from all involved. The hotel building was quaint and beautifully appointed and the large garden was absolutely lovely. A bonus was meeting Alfie and Rosie, the adorable and affectionate resident Border Terriers!
Barrow in Furness
Apartment was in central location, easily accessible to city center, Morrison shop & petrol and all the above was its was easy to commute. If you're looking for a nearby by place to stay from lake district then this is the place to be. 30 mins drive to lake district and reasonable cost for a night stay. I stayed with my family of 4 and the rooms are more than enough for the family. Rooms were clean and neat. Staffs are very friendly. Definitely recommend this apartment for 1-3 days stay.
Amazing location in the most stunning village in the Lake District. A very easy check in and out process, fantastic communication from staff, all the essentials provided. A very comfortable apartment and so good to have a full sized fridge in the kitchen! The apartment comes with a parking pass too, which made the stay much easier and more affordable. So many incredible choices for food and shopping within the town too. An excellent selection of chain retailers and local stores.
Windermere
This apartment is very tastefully done up, and is also newly renovated with appliances. But the real luxury is the way the host has anticipated your every need and ensured you do not lack for anything, from minor details like salt and cooking oil and coffee pods in the kitchen to major things. His guide to Windermere and the lake District is a treasure and by itself is worth making the booking for. This is the intelligent person's place of stay in the lake district!
Ulverston
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Scandic Apartments. It looked beautiful on the photos and it was even better when we arrived. The apartment was lovely and clean with great cooking facilities. The living area was a really good size which was great for nights when we just fancied staying in. The location was perfect for going on country walks and bike rides. I would absolutely recommend this apartment to any couples wanting a mini break in the Lake District.
Breakfast was standard hotel buffet breakfast but done very very well and the collection of dining rooms available where all amazing. The hotel itself is older but that just adds a very certain type of charm, especially given the gorgeous location of the Lake District. The staff where all flawless and I cannot recommend the Windermere enough if you're looking for a quaint, comfortable and clean hotel just outside of town.
The Dovenby Apartment was unique in every way! Very nicely decorated, comfortable, clean and equipped with everything you need to feel at home. A delicious homemade cake was waiting for me in the kitchen :)) Vanessa is the best hostess I've ever met:)) She is very helpful, empathetic, and sympathetic, and knowledgeable about the beautiful Lake District area. Vanessa, thank you for an unforgettable stay.!
Ambleside
Lovely old Hotel right in the middle of the lake district. We picked this place mainly for the badgers, but also for it's character. Our room had a four poster bed, and was very spacious and comfortable. The hotel itself is very old, so you have all the old character adding stuff - sloping floors, old beams etc, which we found wonderful. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly.
The apartment was huge, tastefully decorated and very well set up with a full kitchen. I particularly enjoyed the views to the hills and watching the weather come and go. It was within walking distance to central Keswick which was a bonus as parking in Keswick is so difficult. It was a great location to easily access all the sights the Lake District has to offer. I couldn't have asked for more.
SWAN Hotel is so excellent. I like this hotel very much. Clean, quiet, warm and friendly staff, beautiful surrounding environment. Breakfast is great. I like the interior decoration of the hotel very much, with style and a typical rural atmosphere. The bus stop is opposite the hotel, which is very convenient to go anywhere. I will also book this hotel next time when I come to Lake District.
Windermere
The aparentment is quaint and well kept. The hosts were honestly so friendly and the accomadation in an ideal location. All information is covered. Apartment very well stocked. Great base location for Lake district(wintin an hour of everything). Free parking in select lots all around the lake district(parking is extortionate) I would recommend Nutkins to anyone!
A morning walk along the tranquil lake just outside the hotel is the quintessential Lake District experience! That along is enough reason to stay here. Staff were friendly, breakfast was professional and well-presented. Mobile reception was limited given the location but in our experience WiFi was fine for messaging/light browsing.
Windermere
We stayed at the Woodlands while traveling through the Lake District on our way to Scotland. The hotel is situated near downtown Windermere, and we were able to walk easily to the town center. The hotel is older, but clean and comfortable. The hotel had a great complimentary breakfast. Overall, it was a great stay at a good value.
Cockermouth
Highly recommend! The host was so welcoming and showed us were to park. The apartment was absolutely spotless and felt like home away from home. Everything we needed was there, beds were very comfortable and sheets smooth to sleep on. We will certainly book the The Globe Apartments again on our next visit to The Lake District.
Coniston
Could not have picked a better place to stay for our short break in the Lake District. Both Angela and Steve could not have been more helpful, they are obviously very passionate about making sure their guests are catered for. When we are next in the area, we will be staying at The Apartments in Coniston.
A good stay at the Patterdale Hotel, comfortable rooms and excellent breakfasts,Good staff and faclities throughout the hotel, Not the highest quality but more than acceptable for an enjoyable walking stay in the Lake District.A bonus of entertainment on the Saturday night.Would recommend this hotel.
Ulverston
Superb apartment for 3 generations, each having own en-suite. Owners were extremely helpful, considerate and accessible. Apartment was huge with large family kitchen and lounge. Location was superb for local and Lake District access. House was characterful and a pleasure to stay
Ambleside
Hotel conveniently located for sightseeing in the Lake District by car. The food in the hotel's pub restaurant was good and there was plenty of seating so there was no waiting time. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The breakfast menu and quality was also good.
Stunning surroundings in a picturesque and quiet village, but still close to everything you want to experience in the Lake District. The hotel was very tasteful and well appointed and the restaurant was truly excellent. Top notch cuisine, service, and setting.
