We had an absolutely wonderful stay. The staff deserve a special mention, they were all so lovely! I have coeliac disease and they couldn't do enough for me to make sure I was able to eat at the hotel. We loved our room too, spacious and spotlessly clean

FAQs about hotels on Guernsey

Enchanting Island of Unspoilt Nature

The 2nd largest Channel Island, Guernsey has a rugged coastline, unspoilt countryside and secluded beaches. Although a dependency of Britain, its proximity to Normandy’s shores means that it has a distinct French feel.

Home to the greatest number of Guernsey hotels, St Peter Port – the island’s capital – is the arrival point for ferries from England, France and the other Channel Islands. Looking back at the multi-coloured buildings across the harbour is Castle Cornet, protectively guarding the town.

Just south is beautiful Fermain Bay whose sand and pebble beach is sheltered by tree-covered cliffs. Neighbouring St Martin’s parish has a couple of Guernsey hotels with swimming pools, by the coast and inland. West is St Saviour parish where Guernsey Airport is located.

In the north the coastline is flatter and the beaches longer. Once such beach is at Cobo Bay in Castel parish, where long swathes of sand are lined by a sea wall. Vale to the east has a castle perched precariously on the cliff edge.

Booking.com has an excellent selection of guest houses and hotels in Guernsey, an island small enough to be explored in one trip. Whilst you’re travelling around, look out for the brown-and-white Guernsey cows, and the bright blue post boxes and telephone boxes.

Very old world feeling, I loved the narrow streets and alleyways. Loads of independent shops. Lovely and clean. The views from the Harbour are excellent. The waterfront is easy to navigate with plenty of places to eat and drink.

It’s a great place for families who love beach holidays. It’s also great for those interested in history with all the occupation places to visit. There are plenty of good places to eat. We when to Crabby Jacks which has a varied menu. The local kiosks are also great places for a snack. It’s easy to get around either by car or public transport which is very regular. Lots of people came with bikes.

It is out of the town so quieter with less stress, even had horses walking in the lanes. The bus network is excellent (buy the bus pass), covers the whole island & is a short walk to/from the hotel. I bought a museum pass so spent time with all exhibits(enjoyed the firing of the noon day gun). I was on a working break so didn't have much time for walking tours (next time!) especially to explore Herm, Sark & Alderney.

Like the quietness of the Vale, away from the town centre, tucked away at the end of the island. I love the location of the peninsula hotel facing the ocean, the sun rise is amazing in the early hours of the morning all golden really beautiful. Going to the town centre you need a bus , it runs hourly week day and 2hourly week end. Taxis are hard to come bye and expensive, book with the hotel 24rs pre. The food in the hotel is nice but a bit pricey you don't really have much choice no nearby restaurants.

A lovely little hotel in a pleasant location on the island.

A lovely little hotel in a pleasant location on the island. The restraunt and bar are brilliant, the staff are attentive and friendly too. The guest WiFi was good, fast and stable. My room was nice, floorboards a little creaky here and there - it's worth noting there is a spiral staircase up to the rooms which may not suit all guests. Somethings are not perfect, the TV in my room was tiny and I never actually managed to make it turn on, there was no plug for the bath - so showers only. It can get very busy there, on one evening when I returned to the hotel it was impossible to park, so I had to go and come back an hour later. The only thing I would say was bad was the traffic noise from outside - this isn't the fault of the hotel as they cannot control this; but be prepared for a mix of people using the lane as a race track late at night, and lorries/tractors early in the morning that are also noisy. (I found it hard to get to sleep before midnight, and was woken every morning before 5am due to this)

Good location to explore island as nice and quiet but attractions nearby. Imperial hotel and Taste of India good for food. Guernsey Pearl and the Himalayan Cafe must be visited for shopping and good food. Beaches very close by - but not close enough to walk if got small people. Honesty boxes nearby for vegetables and fudge! History of WWII and the occupation of the island very interesting to explore - forts, underground hospital and other bunkers.

St Peter port was mediocre at best with what were available sights, hotels, shops and restaurants. They also consistently lacked value for money. There were some pretty spots but I would recommend so many better places across Europe with better ports and seaside travels.

Castel is a good position for trips to any part of Guernsey, particularly the lovely sandy bays all along the North West coastline. Coastal destinations have kiosks for drinks and toilets for comfort. Cobo bay tearooms are a destination for locals and tourists alike, with traditional Guernsey fare and the most amazing home made cakes. A warm summer evening sitting on the beach with Fish and Chips from Cobo chippie, watching the sunset is paradise!
