The room was absolute heaven, the top floor was amazing, wake up and see a waterfall. Beautiful colour doors, spacious clean rooms and a divine breakfast. Manuel (hope this is the correct spelling) was such a great host making time to check on guests, all staff were superb including Sergio who went the extra mile, really appreciated that. A cute little spot to stay at while in Banos, hope to return some day.

Mama Tungu is a former rainforest hotel converted into a hostel, so basically you can experience a luxurious stay for hostel prices! First of all the location is incredible, it's not in Baños, you need to pay ~$3 for a taxi to take you to Ulba and then up the hill, or 50 cents to Ulba then walk 10min up. With that said the hostel is perched half way up a hill surrounded by 3 spectacular waterfalls (where you could do canyoning/abseiling as a 2h activity). The view and the ambience is so serene I wish I could have stayed for a month as a retreat! Secondly the amenities are super special, which other hostel has a full length pool and a steaming hot jacuzzi? As well as a beautiful social area with a super nice movies corner, fully equipped with Netflix, Amazon Primevideo and Disney+! There is also a nice bar, and a fully equipped kitchen. Finally the group of Argentinians operating the place are just starting up, building something wonderful. Full kudos and support to them. Hope everyone can enjoy the special beauty of Mama Tungu and relax for a few days in this stunning environment!

Joanna was a gem of a host. Each morning she greeted us with a smile for breakfast (which varied everyday and was amazing!) and willing to help with everything. Booking tours via them is totally recommended it’s cheaper than other tour operators in town and when we went rafting we ended up in the same group as people who booked through geotravel (25 vs 30$). The bikes we rented were also well mantained and Joanna explained the waterfall route very well. Hotel also offers laundry at cheap prices. The room was as described and the shared bathroom was very clean, shower was hot. The patio and garden were really nice and were really inviting to have a drink or play a game. The Hostal is located in a peaceful bit of Banos. It’s a 10min walk to the centre, the uphill bit is easy with a normal fitness level. All in all our stay was really good (and good value!) but the staff made it heartwarming! Extra tip. Go to El Salado hotspring which is amazing and pretty close by.

The location, the apartment and the breakfast
Our stay at Monte Selva was a 10/10 . The staff is very welcoming, helpful, accommodating, kind but most importantly very courteous providing an excellent customer service at the spa area, restaurant, bar and lobby. We really enjoyed our stay that we would recommend anyone that visits Baños to stay there and we are looking forward to visiting Monte Selva in the future. The location was excellent, is walking distance to the center of the city where there’s many bars, restaurants. The food at the Monte Carlo restaurant is not only very good in taste but in prices as well. The filet mignon is a must try. We enjoyed very much the thermal waters and saunas that were indoors and outdoors we had the hot tub and pool. Our room was very very clean and had a big window to enjoy the beautiful view. We had a great time 😊
The overall experience was fantastic. The food was always fresh and delicious. It’s a magical place where u can find peace. And also, the spa was phenomenal and do recommend it. Nothing can beat the location and view of this resort! 🥰🏔👌🏻✨🇪🇨
