We loved the beautiful parks surrounding the old town. We were here late April and the tulips were in bloom and the gardens bursting into flower and leafy trees. We enjoyed the underground tour and Pilsen urquell brewery tour. The beer at the end of the tour from the oak vat was delicious. The climb up the cathedral is rewarded by the fantastic 360 degree views. All in all a fantastic place to visit.
Rather grubby, noisy, frantic city. Dangerous to drive in because of trams and lorries everywhere. The town square is pleasant but in a country like Czech Republic, nothing that special. The only attraction of note is the famous Pilsen brewery, but again, there are others to see elsewhere.
Plzen seemed a bit unkempt and dowdy compared to Prague and Cesky Krumlov which we visited beforehand. Came to Plzen to "have a pilsener in Pilsen", which was achieved. Wandered the old town and climbed the cathedral tower, interesting enough for a day's visit.
Laid back atmosphere with lots of great bars hidden away in back courtyards. Make sure that you book a brewery tour at Pilsener Urquell and go up the cathedral tower. An excellent and cheap public transport system and cheap coach link to Prague.
Pilsen is a butiful small city. There is al lot to do but you will not need longer than 1 day to see the whole centrum. But besides of the centrum you can visit the zoo or most important the pilsener urquell brewery. So in just 2 days you will have seen the whole vity, but the beer and the food is cheap so it is totally cool to stay 2 days.
Pilsen underground tour was excellent. Pilsen brewery tour was very good and the unfiltered beer was excellent. Town square was fine. Better restaurants were a few streets south of there.
During December there is a wonderful Xmas market in old town Pilsen which really added to our experience. Hiking up to the top of the church stepal for sunset offers amazing views of the city. The brewery tour was very well done and enjoyable. I highly recommend it all!
We stayed at the Enjoy Inn just off the main square. It was clean and comfortable with lovely, helpful staff. Close by are all the amenities/sights you would need from shops, bars, museums, churches, synagogue, brewery etc. I am veggie and found some lovely food at Le Bistro on the square. The train station is only 10 mins walk away or a 200 K taxi ride (about £6). You can reach Prague by an hourly train. Note, the train is cheap (about £4 for a single) but takes over an hour and a half. Tourist Information is available and very helpful. Try the original Pilsner - Pilsner Urquell - while you are there and visit the brewery and museum. We loved going around the Great Synagogue - my first visit to a Synagogue. Currently it houses a collection of amazing and disturbing photographs which will make you think deeply. We only stayed in Pilsen for a couple of days but there is plenty to do. I found it very good value for money and would recommend a trip there. Don't just visit the Czech Republic to visit Prague - Pilzen is well worth considering as a destination too.
Pilsen is a small medieval town so it has long history. It is famous by its breweries. You should visit the brewing company Pilsner Urquell (that placed almost in the city center) and at least one small brewery (I recommend Bizon in Klatovská tř. 63). There you can taste not so carbonated beer, which taste is significantly different from the taste of bottled beers.
Everything worth seeing is centrally located around the old city. You don't need to spend much time here, 1 or 2 nights is enough. The Pilsen Urquell brewery tour is definitely worth doing.
The room was very spacious, the bathroom very nicely decorated, like for a private residence rather than a typical hotel bathroom. Both room and bathroom were spotless clean. We ate dinner in the hotel's a la carte restaurant, they had many dishes to choose from and what we ordered was very tasty. Staff is very friendly, they all speak English. Breakfast was varied, lots of tasty breakfast foods to choose from. The hotel parking is secure, which was a plus. Will definitely go back to this hotel next time we pass through Pilsen.
Plzeň
Perfect location, close to the city center 10min. on foot, the tram station just in front of the apartment. Easy access by one-ride trollybus from the Pilsen main railway station. The grocery store and food store nearby. Drying rack for clothing was very convenient. They arranged for early check-in to our request, for which we appreciate their flexibility and assistance. The room faces the inner court and was very quiet. The communication with the staff after reservation was quick and clear. It was nice stay.
Sušice
I was on a motorcycle-trip throughout Czech-Republik and had a night in Susice to spend. I booked the Rousarka because the price was decent, the breakfast was included and parking for my cycle was included. The hotel was newly regenerated and it was perfect for my purpose. The lady at the reception was very friendly and everything worked very smooth. The breakfast next morning was good and plenty - a pleasant stay. I also liked the city (and, of course, the "Pilsener Urquell").
The staff were very helpful, especially as we had a few small issues with the parking and the door to the room. They were overcome quickly and the staff were very friendly and willing to help. The apartment was very large and comfortable, it had air conditioning which was very appreciated on a hot weekend. The location is good , most places in Pilsen could be reached in a 10-20 minute walk. The breakfast was quite good with a lot of options.
Hotel Rango is located just a few minutes walk from Republic Square which was perfect for us because we were only visiting for a couple of days but were able to see so many interesting places. The hotel is elegant and the room was attractive and comfortable; breakfast was excellent. Staff was very pleasant and courteous. Pilsen is a really cool and interesting place, and we will definitely return and stay at Hotel Rango.
Třemošná
Wonderful place to relax at. Wish we had a couple of more days to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The host was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was served as if we were visiting family. If you left there hungry it was your own fault. The room/apartment were very comfortable and inviting. It is outside Pilsen CZ but is well worth the drive back into the city. Strongly recommend this beautiful B&B.
Ideal location - easy walk into the old town. Grocery, restaurants, etc close by. apartment was extremely clean and comfortable. very much enjoyed the balcony! There was also drinks and snacks available (for similar price as you would find at the store) - very nice touch. Parking was also a plus - easy and convenient. we loved our stay in Pilsen, and hope to be back!
Warm, friendly staff. Quiet hotel, five minute taxi ride or twenty minute walk from the train station and close to the Pilsen Brewery for the famous tour. Lovely breakfast prepared with great care. Close to a really big inexpensive grocery store, McDonald's & a great hardware store that sells practically everything. Great value for money.
Such an gentle ambience to have a pleasant stay. The receptionists were so friendly and welcoming. I love the hotel. And I would happily recommend the travellers who are planning to visit Pilsen. Don’t worry Hotel Astory will be the one of the finest places to stay safe and roam around. Keep it up Hotel Astory ;)
Very good hotel, clean, quiet, with good food, on suburbs, with good connection to the city center. The rooms were spacious, very clean and modern. The staff was pleasant. I would recommend this hotel when staying in Pilsen so long as you don't mind being a short ride from the heart of the city.
Location!…..excellent. Right between two main attractions in Pilsen….Prazdroj brewery (10 min walk) and main square (10 min walk). Hotel is new, opened about a year ago! Clean, modern, simple, our corner room was big! And good value at ~ $110/night + $10/ day for secure underground parking!
Plzeň
Apartment was quiet, clean and spacious. The kitchen was large and well stocked with nice appliances and cookware. We only stayed for a few days but a family could definitely stay very comfortably for longer. The river park path a couple blocks over was a great way to walk to central Pilsen.
This is our second stay at this facility (two different apartments) in the past month. Both times the facilities, location, and management communication exceeds expectations. We will continue to refer our friends here. Definitely our go to spot in Pilsen!
Great hotel, located just outdise the old city of Pilsen but actually within a few minutes walk from everything needed to see. At night could be a bit rough in the city itself, so this hotel is perfect for a comfy stay with no worries.
Everything was just perfect.. Property is very nice, in quite location and no so far from Pilsen .... Free parking, Easy online check in ... Units (apartments) are clean, big enough with everything what you need for stay..!!!
Great location in the city center, the room was very big and very clean. The staff was ready to assist, providing all info and super available. I will come back in Pilsen and surely I will try to stay again in this hotel.
This is a great apartment. Good location in Pilsen. Great view and the perfect size. The kitchen was stocked with everything our family needed to make meals. Host was great and was quick to respond to questions.
Really nice and quiet hotel within a walking distance from the Pilsen city centre. Our room was really spacious and cozy. Beds were comfortable and it was super silent in the night. Breakfast was nice as well.
Old fashioned hotel in good shape. Huge north facing windows in an non-air-conditioned room and the only floor fan I saw in 18 days in Europe. Comfortable stay in downtown Pilsen.
Excellent location and very large room. Almost an apartment! Perfect place to stay if you are going to either of the big theatres in Pilsen. Very obliging staff on reception.
