Had the room choice and the restaurant worked out, I would have given La Chiusa a "9" or even "10" rating.
Rooms vary significantly in terms of view and comfort. The rooms facing the pool are the best with an amazing view of the gardens and the beautiful Tuscan landscape beyond. The rooms facing the valley towards Montepulciano and the church (San Biagio) are good too. Less desirable are the rooms facing the parking (there is a garden between these rooms and the parking, so tey are not bad); however, the worst is the room beside the reception (No. 18). We had booked a room with a pool view, because we had been at this hotel before (a long time ago, over 20 years), and we knew that these are the nicest. We ended up in a room looking out at the valley for one night (No. 8), and the room beside the reception for the other night (No. 18). They gave us a discount, they told us that the situation arose due to an error in their booking system. The location of La Chiusa is very nice, Montefollonico is a beautiful small medieval hilltop town, the views are wonderful in this town, and there is a good restaurant beside the ancient gate (called 13 Gobbi, we ate there and it was excellent). La Chiusa's restaurant is also highly rated, but we didn't eat there (we wanted to, but in another "error" we were told they would be open, but then they weren't). Breakfast at La Chiusa is very good. Parking is free. You can walk from La Chiusa into the little town or go for a longer hike, or if you like cycling, you can pick up the "Eroica" nearby (gravel cycling on the "strada bianca") in this beautiful part of Tuscany.

Anna , the owner and hostess, was fluent in English and French and shared her warmth and enthusiasm in her suggestions on her how to enjoy the gorgeous house , extensive and tasteful gardens and swimming pool to the full. She provided the names of several good and excellent restaurants in the small town. The Leopold Hotel , 50 metres from Villa Vignacce, has lovely food at an affordable price, with a spacious terrace and indoor restaurant ( Walter's ).
My small flat had a good sized room with double bed and tasteful antique furniture and a lovely 2 metre model of an old sailing boat. The tasteful shower room and modern gallery kitchen, with lovely stainless steel fitting make it a highly tasteful and functional flat for 1 or 2 people. Outside the kitchen, is a set of table and chairs on a grassed area, for eating in lovely surroundings in summer. I cycled in the area and was very grateful to use the property 's washing machine and clothes drying rack.
There was a background rumble of the motorway less than 1 mile away, which couldn't be heard from walled garden, next to the main red- brick traditional house. Lovely place to enjoy a relaxing drink in the day or evening, with groups of tables, chairs, sofas and parasols. .

Perfect few days staying at Villa San Sanino. It is clear a lot of work/thought has been put into every part of the property - with very tasteful interiors. The staff were super helpful, helped us book restaurants etc! The pool is especially beautiful!

This is the place with wonderful atmosphere, beautiful, secluded pool and - we arrived in distress, because our car broke down - the support, which was absolutely amazing. As soon as we can, we will return!
Location was amazing and the apartment was very clean and mostly recently modernised with simple styling, a modern kitchen and ensuite. Views were stunning. Robert was helpful and we only wished we could have stayed longer. Everything had been thought of and when we needed an iron....one was found quickly and left with us. Kitchen is well stocked and a pleasure to eat in at the breakfast bar. Lots of terraces around with a very private pool area.
The hosts made us feel so incredibly welcome. The space surrounding the house was beautiful and we loved learning about all of the efforts made by the owners to preserve and enhance the natural ambience. The pool was a wonderful part of the property given the very high temperatures during our stay.
Great accommodation for a long weekend with friends. Location is wonderful, huge spaces and big pool. Quite and peaceful, in the middle of the nature. Very good breakfast.

Sinalunga , the apartment is wonderfully situated, the house is surrounded by a large yard with a beautiful view. The owners are very nice. The apartment has everything necessary. Clean swimming pool with sunbeds, by the olives trees, when you swim you can enjoy the views. The homemade oil of olives in the appartment was a nice suprice. I highly recommend.
