Ellesmere House, hotel in Bruton

Boasting a garden and views of quiet street, Ellesmere House is a homestay set in a historic building in Castle Cary, 38 km from Longleat Safari Park.

This stay was truly 'a home from home experience.' Our hosts, Mel and Martin were very friendly and more than happy to answer questions and offer information regarding the local area. Breakfasts were a delight, which also included an extensive choice of tasty fruits and preserves. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and very much enjoyed visiting the surrounding area.

DGG Woodland Escape, hotel in Bruton

Offering a garden and garden view, DGG Woodland Escape is set in South Barrow, 41 km from Longleat Safari Park and 42 km from Longleat House.

The wardens were amazing, and the site was clean and peaceful. Someone had messed up, though, as the site should have been closed for the winter, and we shouldn't have been able to book it. But the guys looking after the site still took us in and made sure we had everything that we needed and were comfy. We had the place to ourselves and it was wonderful.

Montigo Resorts, Somerset, hotel in Bruton

At Charlton we appreciate what sits at the very heart of the premium hotel experience: a perfect night's sleep.

I thought this venue was great value for money. The room was large and spacious and the price included breakfast. Don’t get me wrong, the rooms are rustic in fitting with the older building. But because it was so spacious it didn’t impact anything. The staff were all delightful the moment we arrived till we left. The booking in process and bringing us a pot of tea was a lush touch! We had a fabulous stay and would definitely return.

The Old Red Lion is in a beautiful, quiet rural location. Our room was spacious and very clean, with a lovely view of Alfred’s Tower. The rooms are modern with good, fast wifi. The evening meals are very good and we especially enjoyed the fillet steaks which were perfectly cooked. Breakfast was good with cereals, fruit salad, yoghurt and a choice of cooked dishes. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Tom and Ann are brilliant hosts at this lovely, old pub.

The quite tranquil location with outstanding country views. No traffic as situated on a country road about 5 miles from Wincanton. The pub itself is old and the Landlord/Landlady are very welcoming and friendly.

The site has Wi-Fi but is extremely weak so are unable to watch movies on a laptop. There is no TV in the accommodation and poor Wi-Fi affects quality of evening entertainment. The overall experience was great set in lovely grounds and dog friendly. Having bathroom facilities and limited kitchen facilities makes it a positive glamping experience
