Part of a larger house, Frankie & Hugh's is a renovated, self-contained apartment situated in Ohakune, just a 20-minute drive from the Turoa ski field on Mount Ruapehu. A beautiful mountain stream runs through the B&B gardens, and you can often hear the calls of native birds What a fantastic place to stay. From a warm fireplace to the comfortable well appointed bedrooms for the whole family. Our host was wonderful. Amazing organic breakfast supplies left kindly left in the fridge for us. Highly recommend

Accommodation features a seating area with a flat-screen TV with satellite channels and DVD player, as well as a fully equipped kitchen with a stovetop. Some units feature a dining area and/or a patio. All the amenities were functioning and excellently maintained. The room size was superb. The apartment's location was excellent. The hot tub and sauna were really nice. There were plenty of nice restaurants , convenience stores and attractions nearby. Parking was available and convenient. The staff members were attentive and helpful and gave us some great tips for sightseeing and shopping.

Featuring spectacular Mount Ruapehu and Mangawhero River views, The River Lodge Ohakune is situated about 8 km from Ohakune town centre. It is a 35-minute drive to the chairlifts at Turoa Ski Area. My partner and I stayed at the River Lodge during our Christmas/ summer holiday and it was EXCEPTIONAL. Cleanest room we have ever stayed in. The hosts are fantastic, great vibes all round! The included breakfast was delicious and we had all the amenities we needed. Well worth the price and experience away from a chain hotel. The setting is so green, relaxing and warm. We slept so well as it was so quiet. Highly recommend you stay here if you are planning to hike the Tongariro Alpine Crossing - Dani can organise a direct shuttle to/from the track for you.

Guests have access to free on-site car parking. Luggage storage and laundry facilities are available. Apparently the rooms were renovated 5 years ago but they are still spotless. Real quality in the kitchen, wonderful comfortable bed and the first bathroom on our trip that didn’t have some sort of issue, in fact it was super. Great location, super friendly and helpful hosts , I doubt there’s much better comfort and value in Okakune .
