We were visiting Caerphilly for the final stage of the 2023 Tour of Britain Bicycle Race. Y Fan was a great place to stay. It was within walking distance of the Castle (must see!!), where the end of the race took place. Y Fan is a beautifully appointed redo of an older building. The room was comfortable and the en-suite bath was one of the nicer ones we encountered on our trip. A full English breakfast was included in the price, there was plenty of it and it was delicious, right down (or up) to the French press coffee. There are great indoor spaces for relaxing, games and music, and there are tables to relax outdoors and enjoy the sunset. We very much enjoyed our trip to Caerphilly and our stay at Y Fan.

David very helpful and responded quickly repairing a small issue with shower. Beds incredibly comfortable. Large Morrisons behind the house (walking distance) perfect for stocking up on essentials. The location is magnificent, overlooking the lowlands toward Cardiff in the distance. The property has a green vista, with paddocks and copses of trees filling the middle distance. The building itself is stately, and in good weather there are chairs, tables and a glassed-in area outside from which to enjoy the vista. Inside, the building has an old-world charm with tall ceilings and stately appointments. Our room was large, well furnished and comfortable with a large en suite. The windows in the bedroom revealed the view towards Cardiff. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent, and the service was great. The staff were professional, friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome.
