Katsuura
Hot-spring baths and massages can be enjoyed at Nakanoshima, located a 5-minute ferry ride from Kanko Sanbashi pier. Traditional Kaiseki dinners and rooms with views of Nachi Bay are featured.
Rooms at Nakanoshima Hotel have a traditional decor and come with both Western-style and Japanese-style seating areas. Guests sleep on futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. All rooms are air-conditioned and include an LCD TV, an en suite bathroom, green tea and Yukata robes.
We had a group of 5 people and stayed in the Deluxe family room. Everything was clean and prepared for our arrival and the staff showed us around all of the facilities and explained everything to us in English as we did not speak much Japanese, Not all of the staff spoke English, however anytime we had a query that required it they would always help us to speak with someone who did which was extremely helpful.
The room itself was extremely spacious and came with 2 large beds and 3 tatami beds that were setup for us when we went for dinner. The room had all of the amenities that you could need and also gave each person a yukata and sandals that could be worn around the entire site. The balcony overlooks the bay and other areas on the island and is very beautiful, particularly at sunrise and sunset.
The food for both dinner and breakfast was exceptional. The staff were extremely attentive and explained each of the courses to us in English and were always on hand for even the smallest request.
There is a fantastic walk on the top of the island that is accessible via the main lift and is a brilliant spot for photographs or just to relax in the quiet although the staff explained that it is closed when it is dark so make sure not to miss out on it if you are interested.
The site has both indoor and outdoor Onsen's which are rotated between Men and Women each day. These were extremely well kept and have all of the necessities for showering beforehand etc. These were absolutely the highlight of the accommodation and I would thoroughly recommend that everyone uses them at least once during their stay.
The boats to and from the mainland can be arranged with staff up to every 15 minutes and they can also arrange a free taxi shuttle service from the dock to the train station nearby
I would also just like to mention about how exceptional all of the staff were. We felt welcome from the moment we set foot on the boat to the moment we stepped back off it.

The property is situated 32 km from Matsushita Park, 36 km from Jigenin Temple and 37 km from Naka Family Residence. Providing free WiFi throughout the property, the allergy-free hotel features a hot spring bath. This was an exceptional property in every way. Though the rooms are European style, the singular cabins, the passage ways, the main building, all have a very Japanese architectural feel. This is located about 20km from Koyasan, and sits among rice paddies just a bike ride from a local shrine. It gives you the chance to glide along on deserted roads and happen upon a major pilgramage shrine along the Kumano Kodo. The Kaiseki meal was superb, with about 10 courses of sublime cooking and service of the highest order. The staff may have been a little nervous as we don't speak Japanese, but they fared well. The presentation was, as is the Japanese way, giving a nod to the autumn season with fall flowers and leaves presenting the food as art. The Onsen were private so that couples can enjoy with eachother, three possibilities were available, with small gardens outside each. Our suite also had a huge round tub to enjoy as well. The bathroom was of exceptional design. We had a hedge of blooming flowers outside the porch doors where beautiful and unusual butterflies were feeding.

Absolutely authentic ryokan and hot spring experience.
Well located next to the hiking trail. We arrived late after sunset and left early, so can’t say much. The rooms were very clean, the showers are private onsen which was nice. They provide some basic dinner and porridge for breakfast which was very kind.
Lovely hotel staff, perfect location, great traditional Japanese hot spring. Quality-price is great.
Very nice place. Close to the public onsen and bus station. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms are traditionally decorated and very clean which I really liked. The private onsen are also a highlight! Highly recommended.
Amazing accomodation with very clean and nice Japanese rooms and private onsens. Best treatment after a big hike!
The indoor gendered onsen was really good and of a very soothing warm temperature. The outdoor onsen is mixed gendered so doning the bathing suits provided at the indoor onsens, families could onsen together and bask in the outdoor stoney river sights.
It is very clean! And right across from the station. The individual bed sections offer great privacy. The onsen (hot springs) across the train station is great. There is plenty to see in this "maguro" city! Great WiFi.
A good hostel, in a good location (though Yunomine onsen is not that big). It had a nice tatami common area that even had a few games provided, such as go. The hostel had its own private hot springs, that are free to use: a lovely outdoor bath, a relatively big indoor bath and a rather small indoor bath. We had booked a private room, not big but fine with three persons. We received bento boxes for dinner and you could grab rice for free. There was also free rice porridge for breakfast. Overall very good value for the price.
This is an exceptional place! If you are hiking the Kumano Kodo trail this accommodation is very well located. The owner was super friendly and prepared a fabulous dinner and breakfast. The accommodation was very clean and quiet and the atmosphere was very calm and relaxing, plus there was a private Onsen at the accommodation - Exactly what you needed after a long day of hiking.
A welcoming and cosy place in a beautiful spot where you can dig your own hot spring in river banks, whilst also having two private onsen to boot.
