Attractively set in Kyoto, Sora Niwa Terrace Kyoto features air-conditioned rooms, a terrace, free WiFi and a restaurant. This 4-star hotel offers a bar. The property is non-smoking and is situated 400 metres from Gion Shijo Station.

Sora Niwa is an excellent place to stay at. The location is centric and extremely close to the railway station (Gate 2A) is less than 100m and in the same side of the Hotel ( Take the green subway from Kyoto station go down in Shijo and finally take the railway Hankyu-Kyoto for only one ride to Karasuma station - Just to add as this might help someone, this railway goes all the way from Kyoto to Kobe, so travelling to Kobe from here is quite convenient). The strolls along the Kamo river were nice during the evenings - after the harsh summer sun. The Onsen is perfect - temperature, ambiance, services, super quite and overlooking the beautiful Higashiyana mountain range. The breakfast is superb, their vento box, or tamatebaco, is really a set of surprises with delicious delicacies and superb koshihikari rice. Great place to enjoy Kyoto. They also have a separate guest house (Bettei), I guess I will be staying there next time. Thank you Sora Niwa for making my stay memorable!

Looking for a property with onsen?

Featuring traditional Japanese hot springs known as ‘onsen’, these hotels allow you to take a relaxing soak in therapeutic geothermal waters. Traditionally, onsens were located outdoors but a number of hotels also offer indoor facilities for private or shared use. The healing properties of each onsen will vary depending on its location, with ‘kuroyu’ black water known for its positive effects on skin.

This was an incredible authentic stay, a little far from the main area of Kyoto which was a blessing - Kyoto is sooo overcrowded! I highly recommend to check in, and go to dinner or lunch in the local area. Visit Kamichishiken Jirokichi. So authentic and amazing! I’d recommend not leaving and enjoying what this Ryokan has to offer. The breakfast is really special too. Definitely book the room with the outdoor private onsen.

The room is very big for japanese standard and bed is super comfy, aircon is also good! There’s no cleaning service for stay less than 4nights, but they’ll provide fresh towels etc so that wasn’t an issue for me. The hot spring was a nice touch, not too busy so you get some quiet time to relax, very clean and well appointed space.

Genuine Japanese atmosphere. Everyone was very polite and helpful at this Ryokan. We had Japanese breakfast which was healthy and had plenty of different foods which I did not know before. The beautiful Japanese garden is just outside the dining room. We liked the private onsen especially when the day sightseeing had been very cold. We enjoyed walking to the centre, 30 min, and did not mind the distance at all.

Such an amazing stay! Onsen, massage chairs, beautiful rooms, complimentary amenities like ramen, ice cream, probiotics etc. highly recommend. I would note that the rooms are advertised as ‘shared bathroom’ but this refers to the natural hot spring onsen, every room has its own toilet and shower.

It's a ryokan in a high building where you get yukatas, bento breakfast (beef is best), futons on the floor and a wonderful indoor onsen. We lived there for 3 nights and the best time to vizit the onsen was at 4 pm or about midnight. We walked to Gyon and Kiyomizu-dera, it took about 30-40 min.

Location was excellent! It's situated right next to Kamo River which was just so beautiful and there is a park that stretches alongside it. The ryokan itself is also very nicely done with a zen garden. The onsen was wonderful and well equipped. It had a hot spring feel to it. The kaiseki breakfast was top notch. Special mention goes to the milk which is really tasty. Room was great. It was big and spacious and the window view of the river and the trees just mesmerizes you.
