Rum Doodle, Windermere B&B, hotel in Glenridding

Just 1 mile from Lake Windermere this beautiful Victorian house is set in a peaceful location between Windermere and Bowness.

The comfortable four poster bed and breakfast were brought up to the table in the room. Nicely set out table with a white table cloth. The breakfast was tasty, except for the over cooked bacon.

Ambleside Salutation Hotel & Spa, World Hotel Distinctive, hotel in Glenridding

With a picturesque location in Ambleside, Ambleside Salutation Hotel & Spa World Hotel Distinctive, BW Premier Collection features a modern spa and a brasserie.

The view from the room is a car park, but when you've got a sauna and a steam room in your room, you don't notice the view! Both sauna and steam take longer to heat up than stated and the sauna had the flashing light that indicated a reset, but the staff have the ability to reset from reception, which is clever so you're not disturbed. Unfortunately, we couldn't get the TV to work from the jacuzzi bath, and we had someone who tried countless times to try and connect to our main TV, which was frustrating. Loved the clarins minis you get in your room-the smell is incredible and the ability to have a 'proper' coffee and not the nescafe sachets, but a set of instructions to use the machine would've been useful (couldn't see any). We also had a tension relieving message at the Spa, and it was probably the best massage weve had. We had afternoon tea afterwards, which was nice, though the sweet outweighed the savoury, and we thought the prosecco that was set out wih it was included but later found we got charged. Breakfast was good, I liked you could add extras to your breakfast! It sounds ridiculous but also having a car park that you don't have to pay extra for in the middle of Ambleside is a bonus.

The Westbourne, hotel in Glenridding

The Westbourne is a beautiful guest house set in the peaceful area below Biskey Howe in the Lake District. Bedrooms feature walk-in-shower rooms, luxurious toiletries and large fluffy towels.

The staff there are very friendly. They always greeted us with bright smiles, that make us feel right at home. We forgot to close our car window, and one of the gentlemen kindly reminded us, thanks again. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. And service was great. It’s a great location, just about 10-minute walk to Bowness Pier and the town center. All in all, it was a delightful and very cost-effective stay in Bowness. We will definitely choose to stay here again if we return to Bowness. There’s an Asian food restaurant nearby run by a Vietnamese family. The food there is absolutely fabulous, and the staff are very friendly. It’s definitely worth a try.
