A very good hotel, scandinavian style, very clean and confortable, good quality for amenities. Great position, close to TS and everything actually. The room had only one disadvantage, the view - however we spent very little time in the room and did noy feel it too badly.

A small but beautiful room, super clean! I checked in very early with no issue at all, the reception staff were lovely, everyone made an effort to say hello whenever you saw them. Lovely soap, a brilliant mini bar selection and the hotel bar was great: highly recommended.

Empire State Building

Stretching into the sky at 120 storeys high, the Empire State Building was once the tallest building in the entire world. Not for the faint of heart, its observation deck provides a bird’s-eye view of NYC. Dodge the crowds by visiting between 8 and 11AM, and snap photos uninterrupted with the Big Apple as your backdrop.

Keep in mind that it gets very busy and it's heated during winter, so it can get very hot and crowded inside. I would recommend layering clothes so you can stay an okay temperature during the whole visit. I wouldn't wait for the elevators as it can get very long, you can always grab the stairs up to the viewing points and it's only 6 flights.

The hotel is on a lovely flower-lined street, close to the Empire State Building and Macy’s. The staff was very helpful – special thanks to Darren for his great tips! Free bottled water at the front desk was a nice bonus.

Central location of the hotel was very convenient. It can be easily reached by subway, train, as well as taxi. The room size was ok (probably even good for NY in this price category), the bathroom was clean, beds were comfy. We liked that windows were sound proof, our room faced the 8th Ave and no noise was heard with the closed window. We also had the Empire State Building view, that was great! You may also want to visit the hotel's Rooftop bar for more views.

The classy and stylish design of this hotel with a lovely story of its history. Room size is extra large compared to other hotels and staff are friendly and greet you when you return after a busy visiting day. The location is perfect in walking distance to museum, 5th avenue, timesquare, theatres, Central Park, Empire State Building. Subway stations are all around the hotel, you can come here from JFK airport via air train and subway. That also takes to downtown, Greenwich village, little Italy, China town..etc.

We loved the hotel, located in the centre of NY very close to Empire State Building. The room was fabulous with an amazing view. We arrived early and we were able to leave the luggage and go off for a stroll. Staff extremely accommodating. On the last day after checking out they store our luggage so we could go for one last stroll. Plus the rooftop area was just the cherry on top of the cake. We highly recommended the hotel, you won’t get disappointed.

The hotel is beautiful and has a privileged location – very close to the subway and walking distance from many attractions. We booked a room with a view of the Empire State Building and it was absolutely worth it. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The neighborhood is full of great places to eat, so we didn’t try the hotel breakfast. Also, there’s flavored water with fruit in the lobby, which is a nice detail.

We decided to stay here as an easier option for early flight on day we left. It’s so close to subway, which is complex but a faster way to get around. Some New Yorkans, think New Yorker, is a bit old and stale. It’s the last art deco hotel in New York, it's got character. It’s also close to Times Square and Empire State Building. Elijah on front desk was lovely, he checked in. Jibri on tour desk, was also lovely and helpful.

If you want to avoid the crowds then I suggest going very early or late. My best suggestion is to do the Empire State Building at night. I went at 11.30 and didn't wait in line at all!! It's also open til 2am.

  • Check if you can book in advance.

Check if you can book in advance. The best thing we found was booking a time slot early in the day (at Rockefella and 9/11 Memorial) and returning later in the day after experiencing places where you didn't have to queue (Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge). This meant we didn't waste half our day queueing for an attraction (queues for Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building were horrendous and did not offer the option to book a time).
