The property was a good size, exceptionally clean. We loved having ambient lighting as well as lighting over beds for reading. The place was immaculately clean and right next door to a lovely restaurant.

From the moment we arrived, the service at Te Waonui Forest Retreat exceeded all expectations. The experience was an absolute delight. We were warmly welcomed in the car park, where staff kindly took care of our luggage, and greeted with refreshing kiwi juice upon entering the lobby. Our room was incredibly comfortable, with the heated bathroom floors being a standout feature. On our first night, we indulged in the degustation menu, which was both delicious and filling, and the breakfast buffet did not disappoint. Our stay was exceptional in every way – a perfect 10/10 for service, food, and ambience. And a big thank you for the lovely Manager who offered so much advice on what to do and see in the area.

Lovely room with view out over gardens and pond, and what was probably beautiful scenery which due to the weather we could not see. The included continental style breakfast was very nice. The young German lady Fransisca who appeared to do everything at the hotel was really lovely, helpful and friendly, a great front of house asset.

The hut was so cute!! My partner and I loved that it was fully contained and the location was right in town. There were some very friendly farm animals and a welcome book which made us feel right at home. The welcome book shared the family connection to Fox Glacier and I only wish we couldve stayed longer to meet the hosts and learn more about their slice of paradise!!!
Heartland Hotel Glacier Country is conveniently located at State Highway 6 and close to the Fox Glacier and a number of cafes/restaurants. We did a Mt Cook and Fox Glacier flight with snow landing with a company almost next door to the hotel and it was a fantastic experience.
The hotel is just about 30 minutes drive from the Franz Josef glacier and about 5km from Lake Matheson, which has a very good Fox Glacier lookout.
A great apartment stay for one night very quiet, comfortable and clean.Its an half hour walk to the Fox Glacier township for food and drinks but don,t be put off as the walk back on a nice evening is memorable!obviously having a car would be favourable.We felt very relaxed here.
The friendly owner free-upgraded us to a two-bedroom Apartment. The motel is very close to the Fox Glacier Guiding office. The unit is very clean, the heater and shower is good, enough kitchen facilities to use. The bonus is amazing star gazing at night outside our unit.

the place was well located between lake matheson and fox glacier tracks. it is very close by local shops and the receptionist was very informative and friendly. the apartment had plenty of space and the rooms were very spacious.
