All units in the hostel are fitted with a flat-screen TV. With a private bathroom equipped with a shower, rooms at Rata Lodge Accommodation also provide guests with free WiFi, while selected rooms have a mountain view. At the accommodation every room is equipped with bed linen and towels. Bed was comfy, hosts were amazing, great games to pick from, fully stocked kitchen, close to Arthur’s Pass hiking
Greymouth
You can choose to stay in a lively dorm room or in the comfort of a private room. Bed linen is provided for all rooms. The shared bathroom facilities offer contemporary fittings and are equipped with hair dryers. Arrived early cold and wet after another wet ride up the west coast on my motorcycle. Manager let me check in early and put the Sauna on for me to warm up in. Had a lovely relaxing afternoon off the bike. Fabulous hostel my 3rd time staying here now.
Fox Glacier
Ivorytowers Accommodation is situated opposite Westland National Park rainforest and mountains, just a 4-minute walk from Fox Glacier Village. Guests can enjoy a hot tub surrounded by native bush land, a sauna and free WiFi. This was a great place to stay with a comfortable and clean room. I'd stay again if in the area.
Franz Josef
Glow Worm Accommodation is located in the center of Franz Josef and offers a range of shared dormitory rooms and private en suite rooms. Free unlimited WiFi is included.
All rooms include free breakfast in the morning and a free vegetable soup in the evening as well as BBQ facilities and free use of the spa pool.
The staff is very kind and gave us some good advices about the tracks. The free soup and popcorn was a really good diferencial. Awesome stay
Kumara
The Undertakers Backpackers is located in Kumara, 20 km from Hokitika and 20 km from Greymouth.
You can play darts at this hostel, and the area is popular for cycling. Kumara Store and Cafe is a 2-minute walk from The Undertakers Backpackers.

Westport
Tripinn YHA is the only Westport Hostel without a party bus so you will enjoy a good nights sleep. Just 3 minutes’ walk from Westport main street, Tripinn Hostel Backpackers YHA.
YHA Tripinn Hostel Westport is 4 minutes’ drive from Carters Beach and the popular Coaltown Museum. Westport Airport is a 12-minute drive away.
Super clean. Super friendly. Great amenities including a large well equipped kitchen with plenty of space for everyone. Nice outdoor seating area for the summer (also a large Indoor area with a fire place for the cooler months). Great location where you can walk to everywhere in town. Plenty of car parking. I liked the friendly cat and dog "staff" as well. Our room with big and bright with a comfortable bed (and not a whiff of dampness that can often be smelled in villas). I would stay here again if I go back to Westport. Don't forget your own toiletries as none as supplied.
Franz Josef
Haka House Franz Josef Glacier is a 2019 Winner – Certificate of Excellence (Trip Advisor) and offers backpacker accommodation with a choice of shared or private rooms. All rooms are heated and some have an en suite bathroom. The room is nice and the kitchen is so good.
Greymouth
Located in the centre of Greymouth, The Duke Hostel offers free unlimited WiFi throughout the property and a fully equipped guest kitchen. The property is walking distance to the bus stop, train station, cycle trail, cafes and shops. The The Duke Hostel is a 5-minute walk from Greymouth Train Station and the i-SITE Visitor Information Centre. Rapahoe Beach is a 10-minute drive away. Glen & Daniel were excellent. Such a lovely hostel! I had a female-only room and the room was lovely, beds were comfortable, the showers and bathrooms were clean and decently modern. The kitchen was very well equipped, free spices/seasoning. The hostel has a small 'gym' room with mats and a few weights, a sauna, and a hot tub. WiFi was very good! Fantastic location, right in the centre. The hostel also has free bikes for hire! I cycled to Lake Matheson (highly recommended!) And bunnies you can feed 🐇
The family room we booked was clean but a bit worn out. Being a youth hostel, this was no problem. The beds were comfy and the showers hot. It would have been nice if the oven worked in the kitchen and that there were enough utensils to cook (no egg flip or enough knives and forks for four people). They was always the communal kitchen to find this stuff however. The room was a good size and we were stuck in it looking over the town and surrounding mountains as it rained heavily the whole time we were there!

This place is a total gem. Our room was lovely and super comfortable, more like a home and a backpacker hostel. The host was lovely. I can’t recommend this place enough. We would absolutely stay thee again.

We booked last minute to escape a night in the van under a stormy weather. Happy we did, one of the best hostel we have been! Caring owners, special and relaxing atmosphere, super clean and facilities. Highly recommended ☀️
