Historic Melaka (or Malacca) is the capital of the Malaysian state of the same name, home to one of the country’s first sultanates. The replica of the sultan’s palace is one of the city’s top attractions.
The end of the sultanate came with the Portuguese conquest of Melaka in the 16th century. Reminders of this period include part of A Famosa fort, and there is also a fort built by the next settlers – the Dutch. Several Dutch churches also remain, including Christ Church with its pinkish façade.
Nowadays, Melaka is a melting pot of various cultures, and Chinese temples – such as wonderful Cheng Hoon Teng – sit happily alongside Hindu temples and mosques. The most spectacularly located of the latter is Masjid Selat (or Malacca Straits Mosque), on stilts above waters lapping an offshore island.
Many Melaka hotels on Booking.com are near the promenade lining the narrow city beach, and others are near more secluded beaches in the suburbs. The Melaka River splits the city into 2, and the further inland you travel along it, the more traditional the buildings become.
Just before the river’s first bend is Jonker Street, the heart of Chinatown and popular for its night markets, while a good few miles to the north is Melaka Airport in the Batu Berendam district.

Great tourist hub with lot's of local foods and entertainment. Not really suitable for older people as most of the places were walking mode with unstable grounds. I would definitely go back but not in the public holiday season as I was stuck in my car for 2 hours for a 7km distance to the mall.

Good to spend at least 3 nights in Malacca.
Good to spend at least 3 nights in Malacca. We stayed in 3 different hotels with different experiences. Recommend to enjoy local food. Most of the places are within walking distance. A gentle reminder from local, major/main roads will be closed for cars to enter during weekends in the heart of Jonker streets.

The stay in Malacca was great for travelers who love to walk and get a feel of the heritage city. Even the architecture is amazing. The river walk provides plenty of opportunities for travelers to go drink at the bars in the night, walk on Jonker street, and finally try out the river cruise. In the noon, you can take a look at the beach, The Stadthuys, and A'Famosa. Food options are definitely not limited to Asam Pedas and steamboat but also Cafe's and Bars too. Given the strategic location of my hotel, getting around Malacca was easy. Be wary that I used a private vehicle (a car) so I am unable to comment on the ease of other transportation methods such as Grab/Uber. The public transportation is unavailable unfortunately. I did not see any buses/bus stops around. Please avoid riding the rickshaws when offered due to it's overprice and loud music for a short ride around town. You could enjoy the walk rather than pay for a short and worthless ride

Melaka is accessible from south or from the north.
Melaka is accessible from south or from the north. Lively town and a lot of baked fish stalls or outlets or seafood outlet for that matter. People come to Melaka for its baked fish and nasi lemak. Or fish asam pedas ( sour n spicy ) is the special menu. Other than that of course the Tom Yam menu Thai recipe.
Breakfast in Melaka is very enjoyable _ there are roti canai with asam pedas gravy, nasi lemak, malay cakes etc.

Ever since local authorities closed the main road towards...
Ever since local authorities closed the main road towards Mahkota. And also some access street road near Jonker walk during weekends. This has made some inconveniences to motorists. Lot of road diversions and spiking of car park charges. All these to me otherwise most of us inconveniently travelling around the said area. Hopefully some improvement can be done in future to come. Thank you for reading this.
The hotel is beautiful! The staff are super friendly. They were so thoughtful about accommodating our kids in extra beds (one of which was a super cute tent bed much loved by our son). The room was spectacular, clean, with crisp clean sheets and comfortable duvets. The food was great. The location is ideal to explore the town, as it is right in the heart. This hotel deserves its five stars. We would definitely stay there again if we visit Malacca again.
We booked a family suite for 4 of us. The suite is a 2-bedroom (connecting) suite. A double-bed and 2 single beds. There were 2 bathrooms. A living area. The suite was very clean and spacious. Tastefully designed and decorated. Amenities i.e., shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and soap all smelled very good. Location was perfect; very near town. Ample parking lots on the property. This hotel will the the hotel of our choice when we visit Malacca.
Location: A few minutes of walking distance from the famous San Shu Gong and most of the attractions.
Breakfast: Not too many choices but good enough to provide energy for you to walk the whole of Jonker Street.
Staff: Friendly and helpful.
The hotel is a heritage spot by itself. It has a collection of many historical displays and antique stuff. It also houses a small museum exhibiting the brief history of Malacca. Go explore it.
THE PLACE IS NICE! It is clean, AC is working, Smart TV has netflix, hot water is working, kitchen was clean. And plus IT IS INSTARGAMABLE. I choose this place cuz it is just right across Mahkota Medical Center. Walking distance 5 mins to the hospital, it also has shopping malls near by, so it is easy to find foods. I would definitely stay stay here again if I visit Malacca
The room was exactly as advertised, something of a novelty on booking.com these days. Room was clean very comfortable beds crisp clean bedding and towels, great shower and good aircon. Hotel is close to old town 10 mins along river boardwalk with monitor lizards and otters enjoying the sun.many restaurants close by and a 7/11 next door. Nice breakfast included in the price.
The hotel looks new and very clean. Staff are friendly and always answer our queries with smile and courteous. The location isn't too crowded. Can reach city centre and tourist spots within 10 minutes of walking. The historical well, Malacca riverside near Kg Melayu and the Shore is accessible nearby. Non halal eateries/food court is right in front.
The Aava Malacca Hotel in Melaka, Malaysia is a nice place to stay in Melaka. It's just a couple of blocks away from Jonker Street. The hotel houses beautiful antique furnishings in the public areas. Staff make sure it's very clean, the beds are comfy, great location, value for money.
The hotel was cheap and located near the Ayer Keroh Toll Station. This hotel was intended as a stopover on a road trip up North while avoiding a drive all the way into Malacca City, hence it met the expectations. The hotel breakfast was also quite decent considering the price we paid.
i love the mirror in the bathroom, easy for me to do my makeup.
location is quite ok since it is in the middle of town, not far to reach the targeted destination. but i little bit confuse regarding the hotel parking whether it is fully occupied or not. but all i give 5/5 stars.
Easy access to the hotel / apartment and all done via online. No need to wait for the key or access card to check in.
Room near to the lift lobby. Amenities is okay but could improve with free 3 in 1 Coffee or anything similar.
Location wise is in the middle of town.
Excellent location, superb view of the river malacca. Good morning walk by the river, real 'healing' staycation. The mall within the hotel is so convenient and has enough eateries and shops to compliment our stay. Would love to come back, very soon.
Location is very strategic to the nearby attractions if you do not want to go the Malacca town. Quite near to Ayer Keroh toll plaza.
Room is reasonably spacious and comfortable for family of 4
All the staff were absolutely delightful and so helpful. The hotel is right in the heart of old Malacca. Lots to see and do right there. Very quiet room. All very clean. Plenty of hot water.
Comfortable bed,Clean room and location near to mostly all attractions in malacca, 7e and cu mart just downstairs, carpark available for guests in front of hotel
Hotel closed without informing me. The payment to Booking.com even went thru few days before I checked in. I only know hotel is closed when I reached Malacca.
