In room onsen, our family loved the traditional tatami style bedroom, it was very cosy. Onsen at the back was small but enough for our family of four. Location was very convenient, 5 minutes walk to floral street.

The location was perfect for me, 10 minutes walking from the train / bus station and on top of a light hill, so the view from our room was incredibly nice. (This also means that if you are going on foot you have to walk uphill, no big deal for us, but if you have heavy luggage it could be difficult).
Both dinner and breakfast were japanese-style, but not too traditional on both taste and texture (I say this as a plus, because my partner is not keen on super traditional Japanese cooking and still managed to eat most of his breakfast). We were also offered non-meat options beforehand, which is great!
The building is a mixture of western and japanese styles, so for example the common room has high tables and chairs and a parquet, while the rooms have tatami. Everything was lovely, the common area had a beautiful terrace with a view, our room had a small balcony with outside seats and a private onsen bathtub.
The owner is a very nice man and we chatted during dinner. We speak good enough Japanese, so language wasn't a problem, but the owner also speaks good enough English and is very helpful.
We had free access to coffee, tea and water from the common room and two complimentary water bottles in the room.

Excellent location. Not far from Fukuoka and we drive all the way from the airport within 2 hours. Best retreat so far and we will definitely go back in different seasons. Driving to places are simple and easy. Can go to mountain hike or the lake areas.

A very lovely town.
A very lovely town.
But too many tourists during the weekend.
Too many Korean tourists, which quite some of them are lack of manners, speaking too too loudly, taking pictures everywhere, dominating the roads while walking with groups...

Yufu is one of those places where the place itself is wonderful but the vibe from other tourists and angry, upset staff members in shops can really darken an otherwise bright experience. It reminded me a lot of Kyoto in that way. The place, the shops, the scenery are all great... but tourists tend to be pushy, demanding, selfish, etc. And this leads many of the staff of establishments to be cold, distant, or upset; and rightfully so. I would like to go back there and spend more time at one of the inns. The staff there are usually very kind and helpful, and the spaces are very comfortable. But the place itself I could take a pass on.

We stay in Yufuin for 2 days, but travel 1 day to Beppu and the other in Yufuin. Yufuin is an absolutely lovely place. Every thing is so cute! And a lot of street food along the way.
The best thing is Onsen Ryokan! Don't miss to enjoy traditional Japanese style accommodation.
The thing I don't like here is that shops mostly close around 5PM, staff (both in hotel and shop) don't really speak English. They will try to explain to you, but in Japanese TT Also, trash bins are hard to find along the street.
I really enjoy the accommodation here, and the city is just too cute. You can take photos in almost every corner. This city is a MUST!

Yufu is not a big town and that is the beauty of this place.
Yufu is not a big town and that is the beauty of this place. The main shopping street Yunotubo is cosy and easy to stroll. There are many good cafes along the way. We enjoyed very much cafe Pepper and Anahata. Watch out for unusual snow that blocked the highway from Hakata to Yufuin. Otherwise it is easy to get to.

The traditional Japanese dinner is incredible!
The traditional Japanese dinner is incredible! I like Japanese food and the food we had there is definitely the best ever. The traditional Japanese breakfast was great too.
Location is good too.
We plan to come back next year with more family members!
A cosy ryokan style hotel, there was a Japanese tatami mat room and a western style room. There are three onsen. Two lovely inside private onsen that you reserve by flipping the sign on the door. There’s also one great outside onsen that allows men and women at separate times.
Easy walk to the main parts of Yufuin. We were able to park our car there and walk around the town before check in.
The owner was really lovely and welcoming and she even took a picture for us before we left.
A truly wonderful experience. The food was the best I've ever eaten. Dinner was about 8 courses and seemed Michelin star quality to an amateur like me! The cabin we had with a large, private onsen was beautiful. The view of the mountain from the onsen was sublime. The accommodation was not extravagant or luxurious but authentic and comfortable. An experience we won't forget - magical.
Location was really convenient and near the scenic spots. In Yufuin. Got very wonderful experience for private onsen bathings twice. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious in the restaurant. Staff were nice and helpful and the overall service was excellent. Price was reasonable. Highly recommended for tourists.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, we needed to be transferred to the train station and the owner was more than happy to help. Dinner and breakfast was included during our stay and it was delicious. The onsens were also delightful. I would highly recommend this inn to anyone that stays in Yufuin.
Cozy and the breakfast is pretty nice! Also has a proper ryokan setting with double doors in each room to mark the genkan and guest room itself. Private onsen baths are nice! Five separate ones and you can use a QR code to check which ones are free at the moment, no awkward waiting.
A lovely ryokan to stay on the edge of Yufuin. It was quiet with easy parking and a safe neighbourhood. We enjoyed the onsen very much and would not hesitate to stay here again. The meals were beautifully prepared and the dining room was lovely. There were bikes available for hire.
Love everything about it😍
the friendly staff, beautiful annex, clean Onsen, amazing japanese breakfast and the location, which near by a wonderful little village called Yufuin floral village. This is our best choice of hotels out of 9 in this 3 weeks back packing Japan trip.
Great location, friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is not too long of a walk from the station. from the station. Rooms were spacious and futons were comfortable. Great views of Yufuin from the room windows. Both onsen were large, quiet, and at good temperatures.
The private onsen was great just the perfect temperature to relax. Great staff, really polite and friendly, even if you don't speak Japanese, they have some staff that speak some english. Breakfast was really great. The view from the breakfast room was incredible.
We like the this hotel starting from the hotel came out to welcome us when we arrived the parking lot and all the way to checking, dinner and breakfast.
the room(I called it a single house) is huge with separate areas and private indoor and outdoor onsen.
Very close to Yufuin train and bus stations. Located above their cafe. Nice onsen with both hot and cold water onsen and a sauna, but need to alternate timing with men and women. Very new, clean and spacious. Toilet is separated near the entrance.
The open air bath in our room was nice. We also had a small balcony to enjoy the quiet and peaceful surroundings. Apart from the private Onsen in the room, they also have onsen facilities for guests.
The food was sumptuous and a very good spread.
Away from the very busy Street of Yufuin but still very near, we love how peaceful the place is. The food preparation was "superb" and exceeded our expectations. The staff were very accommodating and the Onsens are perfect after a day of walking.
It was a cozy place with a kind host. A bit of a walk from the station, but very close to all the good sightseeing spots in Yufuin. The private onsen was also excellent and it had all the necessary amenities. I would definitely stay here again.
Staff are very nice, helpful and friendly.
Private onsen is clean and spacious.
The location is not far from the sightseeing spots like floral village or Kinrin lake.
