This hotel is well located in the Miyanoura area. Since the public bath is closed we were upgraded to one of the ocean facing Western rooms. The room was very spacious with amazing views. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom separate from the toilet was a nice addition. The staff were all lovely and helpful (though not many spoke much English so it is a lot easier if you know a bit of Japanese). The buffet breakfast had a great range of options and we also enjoyed a kaiseki dinner which was delicious. The nicest hotel we have stayed in during our Japan trip so far and would love to go back one day.
Situated in Yakushima, 12 km from Shiratani Unsuikyo, 屋久の宿 たぐち features rooms with air conditioning.

Absolutely fantastic stay here. Only wish I had booked more nights. Immaculately clean and well looked after by the friendly and helpful owners. A short walk from the ferry terminal but they will pick you up and drop you off if needed. I also wish I'd booked to have food with them as Hitomi's kitchen looked super professional! (Although there are many good options in town). Highly recommended and will definitely stay here again when I get a chance to return to Yakushima.

The food was really imcredible - so many delicious Japanese dishes for dinner and breakfast. Only 4 guest room and each looks out onto the sea. Staff were superb especially the 81 year old working manager who is so sweet! No one speaks English there although our group speak Japanese. We used this as a base to do the 30KM Jomon Sugi (cedar) hike to one of the world's oldest trees - some 7000 years old. Tough hike in light rain and slippery in places but well worth it.
We had a great stay. Especially if you're planning to do the Jomon Sugi hike this is a great choice as the bus stop is around the corner. We can recommend the breakfast and lunch box as well.
The host was very kind and really helpfull!
Close to Anbo Port and restaurants (about a 25-35 minute walk if you don’t have a car). Bus stops conveniently located for trips to Jomon Sugi & YakusugiLand. Ask host or information centre for times and locations. Friendly staff. I recommend at least 3 full days in Yakushima.
Very good location. Proximity to a lot of excellent restaurants and a few min walk to bus station. Free parking, spacious room, clean toilets and baths, free towels, clean pantry with fridge, rice cooker, toaster etc. Bentos were also delivered to our room at 03:00 am for us to bring onto the Jomon Sugi hike. Maps and schedules were provided to us at check in. Check in only before 1800. Free luggage storage at the fishing store where we checked in at.
Very helpful staff even though we arrived quite late, very sweet and charming lady who helped us order food for the very long hike of the day after (saved our day!). She also had many recommendations flyers about the hike, even though she didn't speak English, we appreciated this a lot! Great place to leave early for Jomon sugi 👍
I had a wonderful time staying at Daichan house.
The host helped me finishing my hiking plan. Drove me to the nearest grocery store and also helped me to buy the correct bus ticket for Jomon sugi hike. Again, thank you very much !!!
The accomodation on itself was perfect for me : It's clean and quiet.
I recommend this accomodation for any travelers in Yakushima !
The host was absolutely lovely. He spent 2 hours talking to us to make sure we were well prepared for the Jomon Sugi hike. Despite the language barriers, he patiently worked through all our questions with some google translating.
As a bonus, he even taught us how to commit ritual seppuku :))
Hosts were incredibly kind and hospitable. Despite a language barrier, they asked us what our plans were, whether we needed breakfast or a packed lunch, and they made sure we had the necessary information to plan our trek out to Jōmon Sugi. They also provided tea upon our arrival!
Amazing scenery and great facilities. I stayed in the female dorm, everything was clean and well maintained. I also loved the communal kitchen with free tea and coffee and an outside terrace.
It is close to the bus stop and you can get to all the main attractions on Yakushima, including an early bus connection to the Jomon Sugi trail, but you feel surrounded by nature.
Also the owner Hiro-san is very friendly, speaks good English and a bit of French and gave me good information on what to visit.
