Featuring 5 different Japanese baths, traditional foods and 2 saunas, Jomon no Yado Manten is just 200 metres from Yakushima Airport and a 45-minute drive from the Shiratani Unsuikyo Ravine. The location couldn't be better, it is literally across the street from the airport. Bus stops are very plentiful nearby and the hotel staff is very well versed in showing you exactly which buses you need to get to your destination on the island. They are able to call taxis for you if necessary as well. All around wonderful location and very helpful staff!

A 3-minute walk from Yakushima Airport, Tomarigi offers a bunk in a dorm room, a garden with a hammock and free Wi-Fi. A very short walk from the airport. Host-San is lovely. She’ll help you figure out what to do on the island and how to get there! Very very friendly and kind. There is a bus, and with help, you can figure out which one to take and at what time. My only suggestion would be if you can rent a car, do so. The bus does visit a lot of locations. But a car would make the experience a lot better. Especially if you only have a day or two

Situated in Yakushima, 25 km from Yakusugi Land and 11 km from Scuba Diving Ever Blue Yakushima, Yakushima Pension Ichigoichie features accommodation with air conditioning and access to a garden. The little pension is run by a lovely grandma and grandpa. Very welcoming, even though there was a language barrier, as they do not speak English, we managed to get the point across via translation apps. They offer yummy breakfast and can prepare nice bento for you if you ask for it for lunch. The location is great, near the airport, however car is optimal for the best experience. The location of the pension is close to all of the main routes and key activities. We were staying in the private bathroom room and were happy with the facilities.

Situated in Yakushima and only 18 km from Shiratani Unsuikyo, Yakushima Cottage Kukai features accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking. Host was very kind - drove me to Miyanoura for food and to catch my ferry. The cottage was very pleasant.

Situated in Tabugawa, 15 km from Shiratani Unsuikyo and 29 km from Yakusugi Land, 新築貸切 屋久島の地杉香る 完全貸切別荘 家族やグループでの利用にぴったり offers air conditioning. Attractive interior and spacious. Beautiful view at the back on the tropical vegetation. Will definitely return

At Cottage Morinokokage, guests can rent out a cottage with a hammock. Free WiFi is available in the guest rooms. Everything was terrific. We had a cottage with a kitchen and twin beds. It was exceptionally comfortable and quiet. We slept great every night. Mr. Nakashima is super kind and gracious. We'd go back in a heartbeat. He recommended a fabulous restaurant two bus stops from the cottage. Do make reservations as they fill up p[retty quickly. Best fish you'll ever have and Yakushima beef sashimi!! The cottage was truly like a home away from home and felt totally private. It was a terrific added bonus to be able to do a couple loads of laundry.

Yakushima Minsyuku Suginoko, a property with a garden, is located in Yakushima, 18 km from Yakusugi Land, 26 km from Shiratani Unsuikyo, as well as 11 km from Yumiyahachiman Shrine. The host is extremely kind and attentive! She took care to help with dinner reservations, and the daily lunchtime bento was wonderful. She encourages guests to be respectful of each other due to some waking up very early for hikes, so the accommodation is warm and welcoming but also peaceful. It is clean and has everything you need. Thank you!

Boasting a sauna, SAKURA YAKUSHIMA is situated in Yakushima. Located 13 km from Shiratani Unsuikyo, the property provides a garden. Nice and cozy place with large and warm kitchen. We especially liked the view outside. Would consider coming back again to enjoy the sauna.

A 3-minute drive from Ambo Harbour, Yakushima Green Hotel offers Japanese-style and Western rooms with ocean views. I liked the location because it was convenient to three different hiking areas. I had a sea view room which was clean and comfortable. The nightly dinners allowed me to sample many Japanese delicacies. Staff adapted well to my minimal Japanese language skills and were helpful in areas I needed help. There was good parking space for my rental car and it was convenient to a grocery store.
